I am looking for feedback from 350z owners who may have owned either a Stillen Supercharger or a Turbonetics Turbo and then switched to the other.
We own a 2003 Nissan 350z and are looking to add either a Supercharger or Turbocharger to the motor as our winter project. I have read and read and read many different forms of information on both induction systems and it seems like you can make a case for which one you want to go with if you research long enough.
I realize the likelihood of having someone respond to this that has experience with both inductions is slim, but, I had to try.
Even if you own one or the other. Do you like what you have or would you have gone with the other option?
Thank you in advance for anyone's feedback (pro or con) on these 2 induction systems.

its a matter of preference and what your performance expectations are for the upgrade.

with a turbo, your gains will be more significant in the upper rpm range, but you may see a fair amount of lag in the lower range, depending on turbo size and single vs twin turbos. fuel economy should be least impacted by turbos, if not improved, because turbos scavenge otherwise wasted energy in the form of hot exhaust gases. its probably the most hardware/labor intensive FI option, as well. but also, the most tuneable/tweekable. (assumption. correct me if im wrong here, guys.)

superchargers and roots type chargers should see good, steady gains through pretty much the whole rpm range, over N/A power. since theyre belt driven like any other accessory, they take hp to make hp, but obviously more than make up for it. because of this though, your going to see some decrease in fuel economy compared to N/A during normal driving. (ive heard the blowers on top fuel drag cars use around 350hp at full load to make the monster power they do!) also, with the roots type, im pretty sure you cant clear a stock hood so, there that...

while i dont have either, base your selection more on which sounds like it would best suit your plans for the car, because like i said, its a matter of preference.

that said, id really like to see someone chime in that HAS had both setups. :yesnod

b.jaye,
Thank you for your feedback.
Prior to our Son converting us into a fan of Tuners, my wife and I had a 72 Chevelle SS that I built a Supercharged motor for. It was the B&M Megablower that I had to underdrive 20% and still dynoed 650HP. It was SWEET, but, I built the entire motor for the Blower.
I am from the Muscle Car Generation and knew exactly what I could and could not do to a motor and still maintain streetability.
With the 350z being our first Tuner (and getting a little bit older), I am getting to the point where I don't want to be constantly be working on the motor and want to spend more time enjoying it. I want to add as many ponies to the motor without making a lot or any internal mods. Placing an aftermarket hood on the Z doesn't bother me in the least since I have already added Ground Effects and a Lambo Door Kit.
From all of the reading and research I have done thus far, the Stillen Stage 2 Blower would seem to fit our need without additional motor work. It looks like it would give us approximately 400HP, which should be pleanty to play with other cars from stop light to stop light. We're more of a quarter mile people rather than top end.
Thanks again for commenting.

With the stilen supercharger you have to get the different hood do to the location of the supercharger. I was going to go with the turbonetics kit when I had my 350z, but never got around to it. I have heard a lot of good things about the turbo kit, but not that much about the stilen kit.

I had the Turbonetics ST Kit and the thing was a wreck. I've been talking with the guys @ Momentum Performance and I'm waiting for their ST Kit, I've seen it in action at a few events and it def way better than the Turbonetics ST kit.
