I am very new to Infiniti after having been with Lexus for 12 years. Lexus has taken a nosedive with design and customer service, so it was time for a change.

I love the new design of the 2012 M56 Sport. I was told by my friend that a stillen supercharger can be put onto the car to make it top off at 600+ hp. Is this true? If it is true, will the supercharger void my warranty, even if it's installed at the dealership ? I already know that it puts added stress on the engine, but will it be ruined in a few years?

I'd certainly love a boost, but not if it's going to cause more harm than good.

Thanks for the help.

Chow

There's no r/d from what I've seen coming from stillen on the M56 but on the other hand GTM is making a suprcharger for the M37! Not too long ago they were advertising a free kit and install for a test mule and now they're working on it, so somebody must be happy with that kind of deal. If you're in Cali and have the funds for a supercharger you can probly inquier about getting it installed by them.

Stillen does not have a supercharger for the 2012 models, only the much earlier 06-07, and maybe 08-09 models. Also I am pretty sure it was designed for the M35 and not M45, because Stillen had already done R&D for the G35's before. Horsepower wise you would only get to 450hp or so, not 600. But just because there isnt one designed for a car, doesnt mean you cant do it. Anything can be done if you have the money for it. Just go to some place that is good with custom work and performance modifications and you can get whatever you want.

I don't think anyone answered your question completely. I haven't researched the stolen accessories for the '12 M's (neither 37/56) but from Stillen it's possible :gotme
Also, most likely out WILL void your warranty if not installed at the dealership!!

I guess my next question would be ..... which dealership that you know of installs the Stillen supercharger? My friend told me to call FIELDS INFINITI in Glencoe, IL, but I spoke with someone already and they said they no longer do Stillen installations.

If the warranty is voided, I probably won't bother. Not worth the risk knowing my luck .... :-)

Anything you do such as blower, turbo, NOS, etc. would lose your warranty coverage on power train (engine, trans, and rear end). It would not void warranty on the rest of the car.

Years ago I inspected a doctor's 300ZX that had ben towed to a dealership with both transmission and rear end trashed. Wasn't hard to see that NOS system had been installed and then removed. They even forgot to remove the NOS tank straps. I called the doctor and informed him that Nissan would not warranty the damage due to the modifications. He said he had not made any changes to th car. I asked f he had a teenage son. Yes was the answer. End of discussion.

BTW - Even if a dealer installed any of this stuff it still would not be covered by Nissan (Infiniti) warranty. This applies to any aftermarket parts, or damage caused by them.

Does one need any more power on an M56?

Unless you can do 0-60mph in 1 second or less, then you always need more power :chuckle:

if you really wanted a 600hp luxury car should of gone with the CTS-V for about the same price if not cheaper, built from the factory with a supercharger. If used one's were a little cheaper Id get one in a heart beat.

Sorry... would never buy a GM car. Pretty much shot at 60k miles. Cheap parts on American vehicles. Too many other choices for 600 hp. I am going to trade in my IS-F [ another over-rated car ] for a GT-R. I like the Mercedes AMG ... but the controls are complicated and annoying, and service is not particularly the best. Going to give Nissan a try now.

^Wow....Mr. Chow is sounds like you have quite a stable! As for as the 2G CTS-V, I was/am on the verge of getting one and a really good member on an Acura forum purchase one new back in 09 and uses itas his daily and continues to state how shocked he is by the reliability of his V over the years. Coming from several imports in the past he said, it's worth every penny. The only complaint he says, is the fuel economy. His is also has the factory package w/ over 600hp consisting of a smaller pulley, etc.

I like your choice of the GTR. The engineering and GT-R history is fascinating. Skylines are legendary.

That said, GM makes some of the best cars out there. Best bang for the buck.

Interesting and glad to hear that the V has good reliability. I owned a 99' & 03' STS some time ago [ before the model was butchered and cancelled by GM ] and I loved the car but it had quite a few issues with it. If you don't have a certified pre-owned warranty with any GM or American line, don't buy!

I'd like to see the GT-R with an 8 in it. The 6 produces almost 550 horses, which is insane... but it doesn't seem that Nissan is crazy about V8's. I guess only in the Armada and Titan lines??? A V8 in the GT-R producing 630-650 horses would be awesome. I think the size of the car is stable for that upgrade, unlike the IS-F, which is minuscule with too much power, making the car unstable.

here is something to review = AMG from both sides of the spectrum

NEW
'12 CLS AMG $100+ K / 5.5L twin turbo
550 hp
590 tq
7 speed
0-60 (3.9 sec)

OR

USED
'06 E55 AMG
5.5L supercharged $30K and less
469hp
500 tq

I'm looking to pick up a used E55 for my 'weekend' car :ohno:

ADD -- w RennTech/tune, headers and pully = 670hp

Nissan really specializes in V6 engines now days. The VQ's are the best V6's in the world IMO
Oh and the highest I have seen run on a VQ35DE engine is 1,800hp at the wheels, although I heard someone made a 2,000hp car...
