So I'm the proud owner of a 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5SE 5spd. I love it. I had a 2002 Chevrolet Impala before the Altima and it had a strut bar. When I popped the hood on the altima at the dealership I was disappointed to see it didn't have one. But I know stillen makes one. I read the installation instructions and they tell you to take a dremel to your intake plenum. I'm not okay with grinding away at my motor. Do you really have to do that, or is there another after market option?

I found this on ebay. Though it seems very flimsy and cheap.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...sting

Hahaha so you have a 1991 240sx and an altima? Thats awesome I do too haha. yeah it's wrapped in fake carbon fiber and made of what appears to be thin aluminum. I was really hoping something normal existed

I might be picking up that racingline stb...I'll probably have it powder coated to match my car.

A little late here, but anyway...

I have the STILLEN FSTB and it required NO grinding of the upper plenum - there's still room between the two. However, I did have to grind the strut bolt mount a bit on one side - it was a very minor inconvenience. I think there are some slightly high tolerances for fitment in their production line, so it was merely a small misalignment with the bar mount weld on the base of the assembly, which made one bolt hole difficult to access in order to torque it down without grinding the bar mount a little on one side to fit my ratchet.

A FSTB is not going to make considerable differences in handling as the only modification, but it will somewhat compliment a full suspension overhaul. So, a brand name one isn't probably going to give you that much more rigidity than an eBay special FSTB, especially considering the Altima is a FWD layout with the wheel/strut quite close to the firewall.
