Honestly, I have never noticed my speedometer starting at 1000 rpm, but seeing your other modifications, I have no doubt that you changed your speedometer to this high performance unit that read in rpm's.

You are correct in your statement that you are not sure if you have more horsepower, because in reality, you do not have any more peak HP. Your engine may rev to red line a tad faster with this pulley.

Read this thread: http://forums.altimas.org/zero...-my-3

And then make sure you read the reply from Josh@Stillen in this thread:http://forums.altimas.org/zero...th-it

I'm really amazed that you now say that your whole car feels light, because the Stillen website lists the weight savings when you change to their pulley as somewhere around 3 lbs. Considering that a gallon of gasoline, at 75 degrees Fahrenheit, weighs 6.25 lbs, your butt dyno must be super sensitive.

I am glad to read that you are using premium gasoline in your 2.5. I don't know why you need to use it, as your compression ratio and ignition timimg have not been changed, but again, if you feel that your car runs better on premium, continue to spend more on fuel.

Thanks for posting your results, they were consummate, and easy for all of us who understand how to read stenography to decipher and understand.

Take care, Leonard T.

Hey Leonard...

...take it easy bro. You've garnered a whopping 20 posts under your belt here on NICO and thus far I've seen only negativity and undue sarcasm.

First of all, I'm using premium in my 2.5 as well. Why? I've proven that I've gotten far better mileage using it rather than regular. Yup...gas in Canada sucks even more than it does in the US (which is pathetic because so much of it comes from up here).

Second, Bravey's first language isn't English...so give the poor dude a break. That being said, my folks were court reporters before the robots took over so I'm pretty well versed in the ways of the stenograph and I still find it difficult to read what he (and an overwhelming number of users on this board) posts.

Seriously though dude...just cool it. There's enough douche-baggery on the rest of the WWW that we don't need it brought into our forums.

esp,

You make a valid point. I owe Bravey an apology. Reading his post, I made the mistake of thinking that he was was using some type of texting shorthand.

I guess that I should only post a response with phrases that the OP wants to hear, otherwise, I'm being harsh and negative.

You are right, it is not nice of me to inject facts into a thread.

I'll do better in the future.

Leonard

Ahh that explains so much, i just thought he was rushing when he was typing. haha english is my first and only language, and i cant spell, or speak well. Shiit f grammer.

I agree with most and think its silly to run premium. You may gain a mile or 2 but you pay for it in the long run.

@Leonard - you seem highly intelligent and you posts are well thought out, and you have alot to contribute. I feel that you are good for this community. But as esp stated here, and i did in a previous thread you come off a little rough and hostel. You may not be doing it on purpose but alot of tone is lost over the net.

please continue to contribute but cool it a bit.

No worries mate! I'm certainly glad you're not one of the unfortunately typical internet e-thugs that would simply reply with some unintelligible and half-heartedly insulting retort. You're obviously very well educated and that's something I find is in very short supply these days.

I used to come down pretty hard on those that couldn't write in complete sentences. I always assumed they were deficient human beings...and I would make a point of letting them know that. After getting to know a few of these people on a more personal basis, alot of them turned out to be from other countries thereby explaining their less-than-efficient grasp of the written English language. I'm now a little more conscious of this before I decide to call someone out...

...that being said, there are still certain people I shake my head at. A certain "college boy" comes to mind...

I get pretty defensive about this forum. I've been on so many others where people didn't have even the most basic grasp of common courtesy...it's nice to have a place online that's usually properly moderated and people look out for one another.

I kid you not, I'm getting almost 100km more per tank (city driving) by using premium. I know my highway mileage goes up like crazy too but haven't been able to properly test it yet. Soon though...I'm taking a trip into BC that has (without fail) run me to exactly the half-tank mark at 575km using regular. I'll fill up with premium before I leave this time and see how it goes!

Seriously...I think our gas up here sucks that bad...

@ BraveyWhat exactly do you mean by your RPMs starting from 1000 instead of 0? Does it just idle higher or something along those lines?

Waaaait a sec...I think you're right. I do detect a faint whiff of douchebag in the air again.Egh...that's what I get for reading through a reply too fast. I assumed he was being a decent human being and missed the blatant a**-headedness of his response.

I hereby withdraw my previous statement. The 63 year old is no better than the pre-pubescent twits frequenting myspace, apparently...only slightly better read.

I'm not calling you a liar, but I find that really hard to believe - it makes no sense! I'm wondering if the fuels up there in Canada drastically differ from 87 to 91/93...I know that some places down in the states don't use ethanol in their premium, which could cause such a positive shift...have you used regular and premium back to back in like weather conditions? I'd be curious to see that!

Hey, no worries! I expect to be called a blatant fool for making claims like that! I know it makes no sense...I'm simply relaying what I've discovered. As far as I know, Shell V-Power doesn't contain ethanol which, as you mentioned, is likely to contribute to something. For the last four or five months I've been going through about a tank every two weeks or so. Each time I tip it up with at least 65L of gas, and each time I switch between regular and premium. That two week gap is pretty much the closest I can get to "like weather conditions" considering one of our sayings up here in Calgary is "Don't like the weather? Wait 15 minutes!". Our gas gets filled with monstrous additives in the winter too so I really notice a difference during that period.

Damn, way to put someone back in place hehehe

Agreed though, since purchasing my 09 2.5 AC brand new, the only gas that ever touched it has been Shell v power (asides from the few times ive almost run out of gas and had to put some other crap in it)... why? I do get MUCH better mileage... and like the commercial says "It cleans your car while your drive" cant ask for more than that!

eh oh, go canada go :P Winter olympics baby, gotta get that gold

hmmm.. this talk of using premium has intrigued me. i must admit that i've felt that my gas mileage has dropped since owning the car for over a year now. i used to be at 8.0l/100km consistantly or lower, and now i can't seem to get any lower than 9. i wonder if i should try changing to shell premium for a few weeks. if esp is right about his claims, and i think he knows his cars pretty well, it might be worth it if it'll pump out an extra 100kms out of my tank.
