So finally almost a year later my pieces are in the shop being painted! WOOO! I think I'm going to do the install myself. Who here has done this? Stillen includes pretty good instructions on how to do it, but just want to hear from you guys. Was it hard? Did you sand down the body before hand, or can I just tape it right onto the paint? Is the tape included strong enough or should I use some excellorator?

TIA. I'll be sure to post pics once its all done! :)

I installed the lip myself on my 2008. I just prepped the area by cleaning it well. It held on just fine for nearly 3 years until I took it off :) It was difficult to take off!

I did the install myself I would suggest some light sanding to dull the surface in order to have a good bond.

If you guys think it would hold well without sanding the body I would rather just stick it on there. Also, jw did you guys have to do any sanding or anything beforehand or did the pieces fit well right out of the box?

Sanding is overkill. Just make sure to use a good paint cleaner to get the wax off and be sure to not pull the red film too hard or it will rip.

Paint black, or any other color.
This is what I did
1. Pre-fit your front lip spoiler
2. Trace out the openning with a crayon
3. Take off the spoiler
4. Tape off the area you dont want to paint
5. Lightly sand the are you are painting
6. Clean the area with rubbing alcohol
7. Paint & Clear!

You could use some type of vinyl under the lip to make the holes black. Therefore if you ever part it out you wont have two black spots!

I think that's the way I want to go. Is there some special type of vinyl I should be looking for? Where could I get it at?
