Hey do all the stillen body kit parts like the spoiler or the lip come in that same black color? It seems to match pretty well. I'm thinking of getting a lip or a spoiler if i wouldnt need to paint it.ESP wrote:No painting! It's black urethane and I decided to leave it as it was (most people do with front splitters...). I did it myself but as you can see from the pics it's chipping quite a bit. I was in a hurry so I sprayed it down with glossy black Krylon Fusion and left it to dry. Within a week the chrome was showing through again. Just this past weekend I sanded it down to the chrome and scuffed it up as much as I could, primered, painted, and clearcoated. It looks great, but I need to find a new clearcoat as the one I'm using (Motomaster from CrappyTire) isn't nearly durable enough. It works perfectly (and is cheap enough) for painting interior plastics (which I've done more of than I care to admit on my previous cars), but is easily chipped when used on something that's in the very front of the car!brandonbeeb wrote:ESP sorry to go off topic, did you paint the stache yourself or get it done somewhere?
Agreed on both points. I also found that, for whatever reason, less rain hits my windshield when I'm driving at highway speeds. That being said, have I noticed any difference in performance? No. I drive a 2.5. Have I noticed that people always stop and stare now? Hell yes.CanadianCoupe wrote:The splitter is supposed to increase downforce on your front tires and push more air up towards your rad.
I just think it looks great and is a good alternative to a front lip.

It looks sick on a black car, but I'd love to see it on a blue one....

preciate it, but for me, its only nice because of the three way color contrast I'm going with for my car...
your pic shows the front lip, the OP asked for pics of the front splitterJose3.5 wrote:I have it on the sedan but its pretty much the same thing, look at my sig for the picture.
hmm... what about painting the front splitter so its colour matched, have the effect you want.rjdmmfl1 wrote:Naww, its cool... when I first got it, I was like..ehh, now, on my car, I'm still like...ehhh
as I mentioned before, I think the stock fascia is pretty dull, and I needed to put something on the front... I was about 1 week away from buying the front lip whe I got this one for free... I just couldn't turn down free, even though I wasn't 100% set on getting it.
On a non black car, the front splitter "looks" like you're trying to compensate, but on a black car, it looks like a really nice stock front.. it blends well, you don't notice at first that its an add on, and that to me is what adds to the pure sexiness of the splitter on a black car...
IMO, it will not look as good on ANY car compared to a black one. But, the darker the car color, the more it blends in, the lighter the color (i.e. silver) the more it looks like an obvious contrast...
imagin if I didn't have the matte black theme going on my entire car (headlight overlays, taillight overlays, rear valence) .. IMO, the front splitter would look ridiculous... just my .03
That's my plan for next summer (among other things...)iammai wrote:Someone needs to wrap the splitter with carbon fiber. The carbon fiber splitter would still need to be on a black coupe though.
