Pretty much what the title says.

Im refering to the black mesh inserts that go in the bottom of the fascia. Has anyone who has these noticed them beginning to rust? I noticed that mine had a brown hue to them yesterday, and upon closer inspection, noticed that the whole thing was beginning to rust. Ive only had them on for 6-8 months.

And please no , we all know what rust looks like.

Thanks for any help

PS: If Josh or Kyle would like to chime in on this to let me know if this is normal, I would greatly appreciate it

They shouldn't rust but it comes down to what type of materials used. My grille inserts were black powder coat aluminum mesh so no rust obviously. Can you uninstall it and use something like Rustoleum paint to stop the rust before it gets worst?

I am really not familiar with Rustoleum due to the fact that ive never had to use it. Would I have to treat the metal in any way before repainting? And also, If you got different inserts than the ones that I got from Stillen, where did you get them or did you make them?

I just bought some from Stillen about 2 weeks ago. At 80 dollars for some perferated metal I assure you that if mine start to rust it will be my last Stillen purchase that I make. Not to mention that I am not very happy with the fitment of the grill on the Stillen bumper( yes I used the metal factory upper grill brace also.).

Hi guys,

I was alerted about this via another post, and will look into it first thing on Monday.

I'm not aware of this happening until now, and I will definitely discuss it with our customer service manager. Thanks for the photos, that makes things easier.

Anyone else with photos, please email them to me directly.

Thanks.

Josh

Stillen: Top customer support .

I dunno, I think it's common sense about the rusting. Normally for metal not to rust it should be painted. Usually people paint it black.

Another way around this would be to use plastic mesh.

nobody better get on here and start bashing Stillen. I presented this to Josh and he already told me that he would get to it monday morning because he never saw this thread.

Has this company ever done any of us wrong? not me.

I was just curious if anyone else had experienced this. Now that we know that people are having this problem, lets just see what happens.

I just picked up my front fascia yesterday!

Sales Rep. Dean informed me that the mesh is just Painted! It will rust over time.

Since mine had to be taken to the auto body for repairs, i am having them spray some Zink on it. I hope i wont have to deal with rust problems.

I suggest if anyone buys the mesh grill insert that you spray an anti rust solution on it!

Actually the grilles are intended to be powder coated, and I'm checking to make sure that has been the case for all of them.

I've also been in contact with Bmore-coupe about getting his back for inspection.

If some were accidentally painted, that would be the problem, and we'll take care of that.

xeene, as I have info I will be reaching out for you too.

So turns out a small number were accidently painted instead of powdercoat. Most were powder coated and shouldn't be a problem.

The 3 that have reported issues have been contacted, and replacements will be sent ASAP.

Update: Josh contacted me exactly when he said that he would, and after figuring a few things out via email, my new inserts are in the mail on the way to me now.

Stillen's service never stops amazing me. After Josh sent the first email, I was very busy and did not respond very timely. Most companies would take that as "well, I guess he will get back to me when he wants the problem fixed", but Josh kept on top of the situation and kept investigating further and keeping me updated even when I hadnt responded to him.

Stillen FTW
