I'm just waiting for my tax return and I'll be ready to go! Issue though, I think the stillen sounds far better than the nismo. After doing about 3 hours worth of looking around and checking out videos yesterday for some reason all I hear when the nismo is reved is some what the sound of a lawn mower!! The stillen seems to me to have the deeper sound I like without the cops hearing you coming from 4 blocks away!!

well, i got approval :D gonna bite the bullet and order it today. My girl's brother works at a shop, hope I can use their lift to install it rather than getting it on top of 4 jackstands. I read thru the instruction on Stillen's website, it's a simple unbolt, rebolt process right? Is there anything I need to be awared of?

I've installed several exhaust systems in my driveway. All with jackstands.

I'm the type that likes to do installs like this because its fun and interesting. A lift is definitely a plus that you have access to. Just make sure you get new gaskets and any additional hardware that might not be included. Use air tools to torque it down. Make sure everything is lined up properly and not obstructing anything. Fairly straight forward IMO.

on Stillen's instruction sheet it says only need wrenches, nothing about gaskets, i'll definitely ask when ordering. One more thing, where are the center lift points on this car? I've never lifted a car by its axle so just wanted to make sure I don't screw it up hehe .... Thanks

Tyler,

I talked to Kenny @ Stillen. He said gaskets aren't included and to use the original ones because the car is practically brand new. What do you think of that?

Thnx

Makes sense to me. Replacing the gaskets when working on the exhaust is just a very common thing to do. But on a car that's only a few months old?

If you have minimal miles it should be ok to reuse the gaskets. I just like to do everything clean from the get go. I see it as, new system, new gaskets. See how it is when you pull them off. You should be ok I'm sure.

Although I will probably end up going with the Stillen exhaust, I find it absolutely ridiculous that they charge nearly $800 (full price) for the exhaust and don't provide new gaskets. While this may be par for the course for other companies too, it's still ridiculous. Especially as they are not expensive. Sorry about the rant but little things like this really irritate me. I think little things like this are a horrible customer service practice that more and more companies are doing and getting away with it.

Some of our kits get exhaust gaskets and some don't. There is a very good reason for this. Nissan is very good about their gaskets and 9 times out of 10 they use a steel gasket. These steel gaskets are re-useable and very durable. Some of our exhaust kits come with new gaskets but typically we don't change them if the car is equipped with the steel gasket. To be perfectly honest the aftermarket gaskets that I have experienced just aren't as good as the O.E. steel gaskets that Nissan uses.

If you'd like to replace the gaskets then you can pick them up at your local Nissan dealership. I will tell you right now that this is not something I do. When it comes to Nissan vehicles I ALWAYS re use their gaskets unless they are broken or cracked. If they are broken or cracked then I go to a dealership and buy the O.E. gasket.

There are some O.E. manufacturers (Ford, GM) that like to use cheap gaskets that become very brittle. For instance the Ford GT supercar. We have been doing a lot of work on those cars lately and the exhaust gaskets practically crumble just by looking at them.
