I've tried to read all the thoughts and tips regarding exhaust mods on the Q. I recently got a Stillen rear exhaust section for my Q. My question is, from the cat; do I install new "better" flow mufflers or do I simply run pipes out of my cats directly to the rear exhaust section (i.e. no mufflers). Just trying to get ya'lls opinion on this as I've read ideas on both. Thanks.

If you don't want it to bee too loud, keep the mufflers, I would. And according to Qtech (IIRC), the stock cats and mufflers are very free flowing, but the final muffler is the restricting one. Can't wait to see this!

FY33 and G50 systems are both very unrestricted, just not loud.

Ok... installed the Stillen exhaust (5/05)... looks good, fits perfectly and has a nice low rumble at idle. Not all that loud when driving at highway speeds. Have also noticed a 5-7% increase in gas mileage which doesn't hurt. All in all very pleased and since I got it at a discount price ($300 all in) this has been a positive experience. I just wanted to thanks those whom assisted me with their feedback and suggestions.

I know this is against conventional wisdom, but I remember someone sayin that the CATs on the Y33 pinch down the exhaust flow to less than an inch an a half. Anyone else heard this?

I was thinking about getting one at one point. I would definately like to see some pics and hear some soundclips! It would also be cool to hear what it sounded like without the rear muffler at all! I've heard it on a G50 but not a Y33.

Not much exhaust gas flow from 4.1 liters to begin with even producing 280 HP.........~~350CFM divided by 2............175CFM flows well thru a small pipe or cat.
