Does anyone use this? Does it really do anything?

There are some who use it. It increases the efficiency in which torque is used.

I've got the stillen (bolts directly to block) and the weapon-R (bolts to plenum)

I did the stillen first. When I did it I could tell a definite difference in throttle response. Since it in essence, makes the engine more stable and there is less engine roll of any kind, the torque being lost with stock mounts is saved and directly deposited to the crank....which basically means, you have more power. Maybe not dyno numbers....but definitly gwoods butt dyno would feel the difference.

It also makes you car "feel" more stable and more refined. This is one of those things it's hard to describe unless you've felt it before. Like the before and after feel of a suspension upgrade or how your car feels when you take those first turns after that newly installed sway bar or tower bar.

The one and only downside of this install is....it has been known to create a tiny bit more vibration at idle. The main reason for this is the normal movement the engine had before is now being stabilized and you can feel it in the frame (or some say)

I personally have never "felt" the idle vibration....but when I did mine I already had exhaust and a few other things...but either way, I still don't feel any kind of vibration now in my car. I'm sure if someone sat in a stock G at idle for 5 minutes to get accustom to how it felt, then sat in my car, they could definitely feel the difference. But I personally like to be able to feel my car, so it's all good in my book.

It all comes down to....do you want that extra little bit of horse power/stability/throttle resopnse, or do you want to maintain a smoother, more luxury feel of your car.

Did you install them yourself? If so, how difficult?

It's easy to install.

If I recall you gotta remove the power steering reservoir, cut a few tie wraps, move/re-locate a grounding strap and move a timing chain cover for the engine side of the mount and the other side mounts to the frame rail. No drilling required, just use existing holes. There may be one or two more fine details, but overall it's a pretty easy install.

They run from around 100-150bucks and well worth the money IMO.

Course 100 bucks ain't **** to me cause I'll blow more than that at night out at the bar haha. So if I don't go out and party a little on the weekend...I justify buying random parts that way. Damn...I need to stop going out so I can afford a Turbo muhahahaha!

I saw some on e-bay. I figure as e-bay parts go, this would be a low risk part (if it fails, nothing should be harmed). Has anyone used these?

i'd be VERY WARY of ebay parts. i bought my first underdrive pulley from ebay then i read that they break so i bought a more expensive one. these are nice cars so put nice parts in them. it'll cost a little more but you're also buying piece of mind.

that part doesn't do much but i bet that little piston will wear out or the gasket will break faster than a Stillen one.

I just had my stillen damper installed for me for $50.00 I just wanted to make sure that it was put on right. I purposely tried to feel any vibration before getting it done and I didn't really feel anything at all. After the install I can feel the vibration a little bit in the steering wheel but I feel it more in the gas pedal. Too much traffic though here in so cal for me to really test the throttle response. That will come tommorow morning if it's not raining

Ok well I've had it on for a couple days now and it does actually seem to increase the cars performance. I wouldn't say it's a whole lot but I would say it is worth the cost and it's nice to know that the engine isn't moving around so much anymore either.

my $150 Stillen damper looks EXACTLY like the $60 ones on eBay. i guess since this part isn't critical i'd go with the eBay one.

haven't installed it yet. been sick.

OK! put mine in tonight. Eh. nothing major noticed. seems firmer/more stable. couldn't notice much of an improvement but i did notice a little. i would definitely go with the cheaper on on eBay than the Stillen one. OR i'd go with the Weapon R damper because it'll be MUCH easier to install (but more expensive).

the install was a pain. too many hoses and cables in the way. you'll need a large set of hex tools. i had to run to the store to get a set big enough for the bolts. it's not ridiculously hard but the Weapon R would have been MUCH easier because it bolts on higher up than the Stillen one.

overall - EH

i'll take her for another spin tomorrow and see if i notice it more.

Awesome, thanks for the update. I am really interested to see the difference it makes. It may go on my list of mods to purchase... right after I purchase the car!
