Just got a Stillen catback exhaust installed on my AC but as I was leaving the shop the guy made it a point to tell me not to floor the car, and just drive normally. Tbh atm I was too excited to jump in the car and turn it on so I wasn't even thinking that that I should be probably asking him why he said that... so thats what this post is about.

Is there a "break in period" for a new exhaust or something?

P.S. I took his advice and I haven't floored the car at all, but I noticed that after driving for a while there seems to be a weird smell coming from the exhaust, is this normal?

The resonators will burn in and the car will smell funny for a bit which includes lots of white smoke for a few minutes. Perfectly normal.

Never heard of the throttle limit with new exhaust, but I guess it's to keep things (the new metal) from heating up too much under repeated lead foot. And yes, as above, new exhaust bits smell funky for the first few trips, but fine after a few hundred miles or so. You may also hear some metal clanking real loud after start/shut off as the metal heat cycles and fits in.
