Hello All, For those of you who have done this, have any of you heard of Stillen and the exhaust catback upgrade and cold air intake? I know there are significant gains over the nismo exhaust, but I was wondering if the reliability and compatibility is legit. It sounds stupid, but if the dealership is willing to sell the nismo exhaust and slap it on there, then I feel much safer in terms of it not causing problems as opposed to a separate company (despite them being a nissan specialist company). I would assume Stillen, in terms of a low risk and high compatibility, is best because of their history. Any advice on other systems or kind of a safe way to mod the car to get a subtle increase in HP?

Stillen has quality products and great customer service/ support. Very reputable with Nissans. You can ask for a Nico Club membership discount. The only potential issue could be warranty stuff and whether or not you have one and what equipment it covers and what can nullify it. That's a convenience when buying dealership upgrades. The seller will know some stuff (ie Stillen) and your warranty provider should know the rest. After intake and exhaust I suggest looking into a tune on your ECU if possible. I'm not sure what all the options are for the modern Z's. Maybe just a bit of throttle and idle relearn is enough. Maybe you can up the fuel pressure advance timing a hair and optimize for 91 octane or greater. Anything you can do to reduce weight is always a plus for power.

Thank you for the response and comment about the discount. The rep at Stillen said that there was a 40hp increase at the wheels if one put on an exhaust, and intake.... I've heard of other brands (there's a recent thread about a different one) but don't know if they're legit. These nissan cars have very good power to weight in addition to Cd, so the effort would most likely be rewarding. Back in the day my folks had an altima up to 160k and all that needed changing was the drive belt and spark plugs only one single time. All original everything else. They could have driven that thing up to 220k.

adding 40 is pretty good. I like the old Altimas, pretty solid back then, though I always prefer a chain to a timing belt.

JWT does tuning still. Maybe they can help with the computer side of things.

40whp for intake and exhaust sounds pretty high. Did you ever end up ordering and installing them?
