still will not start

No loud noise. There was a loss of power(car would cut off) and occasionally the act susp system would fell but the engine looked good no leaks. A while after I got my girl told me she smelled gas one time when she drove it but I never did. And that shop said I needed a timing chain with out opening the engine just on the sound and not starting alone. Is this a timing chain issue or something simpler

Please describe the $32,000 - $45,000 spent on M&R since brand new.

Since you neglected to provide year and mileage I am assuming 91-93 Q45 based on ACUS and chain guides.
