Still Smokin (Not Cheech & Chong)

For a couple weeks my car will smoke a bit at idle. The smoke is white, and has a slight smell of oil. However, it does not smoke at every stop light. Only every 5 minutes or so (off and on). I had a bit of oil in my turbo intake, so I installed a catch can. The turbo has no shaft play and I believe the seals are good (it doesn't smoke on boost or normal throttle). I was told it could be a modulator valve, but my auto-trans doesn't have one. I have good compression, so I would think my head gasket is fine. Coolant smokes white, correct?Out of options, any help is greatly appriciated!Thanks!Patrick Edwards

If you smeel oil And see smoke its gotta be the head gasket, because oil and coolant both flow through the block, most turbos only have an oil line if im not mistaken. So if you smell coolant, it only is coming from one place, your HG. Time for a rebuild : \

I don't smell coolant, I've just been told that coolant smokes white. It smells more like gas and a little bit of oil as if my car is running really lean. It doens't make any sense that it only does it at every other stop light, and only at idle.

your actually in the same boat I am, My CA stock turbo looks fine has no shaft play but it smokes on idle but when you gas it the smoke goes away until idle, aparently the seals are bad. I just said **** it and bought a new turbo.

Well that sucks because I gave him that turbo off my SR. (I'm his brother). I was thinking the same thing but really was hoping it wasn't that.
