are you sure that you didn't accidentally(?) install a turbo timer?

Sounds like engine dieseling, but I don't know if that is supposed to happen on fuel-injected cars. Try these links and see if they help.

Good luck.

How long does it run after shutdown?

Mine did this for a while. I think had to do with wiring. My car would starve of fuel till it shut off. I couldnt figure out why though but when I swapped the car to my S14 it didnt do it anymore. I think it was because I changed harnesses.

after reading the wikipedia article homeslice gave me...i think thats the problem...i upgraded to a walbro 255lph on a stock motor...other than a fmic and turboback exhaust.... it tries to flood out the motor everytime i start it anyway... so im getting to much fuel i guess...which should be solved soon cause we already planned on puttin a fuel pressure regulator...and the guy that owns the place is a friend so its not like this all that much of a hassle to get fixed... just a pain...thanks guys for all your help

Fuel wouldnt get into the engine unless the injectors sprayed it in, no matter how much fuel pressure is built up.

well the motor could still be getting too much fuel while on....so when i cut the ignition off there could still be extra gas in the motor...Correct?

if you think about it..no matter when and where you shut your engine off there will be fuel flowing through it..the engine doesnt know when your going to shut it off so it cant say alright i have to decrease the amount of fuel running through the engine..if you ask me..it has to be somewhere in the wiring harness

the comp tells the injectors when to be on or off....does it not? therefore fuel cant go thru the motor while off

Seems to me that you and your friend will just have to troubleshoot it. Start w/what everyone has given you here and then go from there.

Im not sure if this is right or not bro. all i can say is pull your fuel rail off with the injectors still in. unplug the coilpacks and crank the engine. now you can see if any of the injectors are staying open too long. i dont think your ecu is bad because when that goes bad usually you will have a lot of problems other than the one you are having...such as misfiring, richness, bogging..this is an uncommon problem that i dont think is caused by the computer imo

no...im not saying its my comp...someone said that there was nothing stopping the fuel from entering the motor when it was off... i was just stating/wondering that the comp tells the injectors when and when not to be off

yes the computer does but the injectors could be faulty and not stop pouring fuel into the engine. so do the little test i told you to see if they are sticking open. otherwise i would look back into the wiring job you did. i know it would be a pain but ....another thing you could do is buy a turbo timer hook it up and then see what happens. btw what do you mean "sputters" off

does the electronics in the car continue to run and just the engine idle, or does everything stay on for a few seconds?? it could just be a bad ignition switch if everything continues to run.

I have seen this many times - usually it is something in the ECU wiring for power, backup power or ground that is mis-wired. Also if the fuel pump has had it's wiring relay bypassed to make the engine run, it is almost certainly a wiring issue.

My sr did this when i first got my swap running but it would constantly keep running with the key off...I mean like i could drive the car with NO key in the ingnition!!! It was constantly getting power even with my key off. After ALOT of swearing and frustration i decided to swap out ecu's.....and that was the problem!

hmmm..ya i think i would go with a new ecu before i went and re-did the wiring..the ecu is a lot less of a hassle and they are not that much money
