Had a valve cover leak so i decided to change the valve cover gaskets. I started with the driver side first because as i recall last time i did it in 2009, the driver side was the toughest, for me. Anyway, I got it all apart, put it back together, cranked it up, running rough (was not preexisting). Checked all connections (plug hook up is pretty idiot proof) the vacuum lines, coils, etc. put it all back together, same problem. i said to myself, ok, maybe i need to replace the plugs, so i did. no change. today i changed the 4 coils on the passenger side, no change. idles ok, but under load it dogs. has an odd smell as well. i cleaned the maf, and when i first reconnected it, the engine died. i restarted the car. i took it for a test drive and it stumbles like a sick whore under load; but is sings up around 3,000-4,000 RPM. when i parked it i could still smell that odd smell (not oil). HELP!!!

You have a leak somewhere. You sure the gasket is seated properly? Take some TB cleaner (I believe you can use TB cleaner - google to be sure) and spray it around the casket...if your idle changes, then you have a leak.

Make sure you have your coils plugged into their correct harness connectors. It's very easy to plug, for example, the #4 coil connector into the #6 connector. Is the check engine light on?
