i guess this would be a spin-off thread from the still racing pulley set group buy zer...age=1

has anyone heard anything from this guy lately? last i heard from him was on 9-16 when he sent me this email:
Hello Dexter,I was relying on bigvinnie for the dyno results, however I now have to clear up this issue with nicoclub.com. There will be no more delays because of this in regards to your parts. I have secured a backup dyno tester and am getting tested in the next 7 days. I will have yours ready for you with dyno results at that point. I DO sincerely apologize for this inconviniencing, as this isn't the way anything has gone for me in the past.

I will keep you informed as well as the others, we will make this good if not great for you all.

Dustin StillSTiLL RACiNG
i've been willing to give this a chance, but my patience is running extremely thin...

has anyone else had any contact with this guy since the original thread was locked? i feel your responses will dictate further actions that we should take.

Greg, if you read this, what is nico's side of the story? in hindsight, it was dumb of us to get in on this group buy without him first getting approval or whatever to do this sort of a thing. i'd like to hope that we didn't just send this guy 4 grand or more and now are shafted. any advice on what we should do?

big vinnie, what's your side of the story? did you ever recieve a pulley set? i think of all of us, you probably had the most contact and communication with dustin. could you let us know what went wrong with your deal?

other group buyers, have any of you asked for or recieved a refund?

let's see what we can do to get some closure here.

well i sent another email yesterday saying that in two weeks i want the pullies in my hand or my money back in my pocket. this is stupid.

i haven't heard from him at all since that last email i posted here. has anyone been in contact with this guy? there's no way 20-30 of us could have given this guy our money and just not care at all!

i finally got another email from him yesterday.

more promises of dyno results and getting my pullies soon. never addressed my concerns or mentioned my wanting a refund or pullies in 2 weeks...

i replied and asked for a phone number as well as gave him mine. i'd like to actually talk to this guy and find out what in the heck is going on.

anyone else have anything to contribute?

I have been trying to email bigvinnie, he never replied, nor did that other scmuck running the GB.

There isn't much we can do from a NICO stand point. How did you guys pay? Does he own a bussiness? If so, use the BBB. The BBB also has alot of info for cases just like this. I'd say that's your best bet at this point.

This is yet another reason to have legal insurance.

i am just having a hard time believing that of the 30 or so people who sent this guy a payment, i'm the only one not rolling over and playing dead.

people, i want to know how many of you have contacted him. how many of you sent him money? how many people have recieved any sort of a reply other than, "blah blah blah... as soon as i get dyno results... i need a new manufacturer... you'll get your pullies soon... i promise... blah blah blah..."?

i think some teamwork here would go a long way in getting our monies back.

nico isn't responsible for babysitting us. when we do something stupid like this group buy, it's our own fault. nico's help is appreciated though in at least helping track this guy down if need be.

personally, i paid with a credit card over paypal.

i'm going to send dusting another email saying that if he doesn't call me by monday, i'm going to file a claim with paypal, with my credit card company, the bbb, and the federal internet fraud group. i don't recall the actual name of the organization at the moment, but i've see it before. i'll dig it up.

There is a very simple solution for this. When a group buy is organized by someone or a company for the first time or an experimental/prototype part that everone's group buy money goes into a nico bank account and after Greg receives all the group buyers parts that person or company is paid.

Plus a 2 % usage fee so that it would be worth Greg's time.

Just to let you guys know I believe this guy was a scammer. I actually spoke with Greg to close the thread down. I refused any purchase from Dustin at still racing unless he was to participate as a NICO vendor for the security of my money and yours as well. I had expressed to Dustin the nature and cause of my situation and I was not going to take part in any "scam" so to speak, without the proper actions taken between Greg and Dustin. If Dustin isn't a scammer he can kindly fix his situation with Greg. I am no way shape or form affiliated with Dustin, and his professionalism or his lack there of sucks, To put it bluntly.i]I was looking to help the community with a dyno thats all, and the deal never happened because he never mailed me a contract in paper, he gave me some lame email that could never be legible.

I apologize for not chiming in sooner I moderate a forum of my own, and I participate a lot with the local community. I also work long hours as a construction manager so in much regard I haven't had time to check out much of what has been going on at NICO.

To WD racing my email is [email protected], you are probably being moved to my junk emails which I usually never check, but I'll take the time to syphon through and look for your emails as well as others.

Here is what I expressed to Greg in an email on August 17 2007

Hi Greg, I thought that I would bring this thread to your attention. It seems that this guy Dustin has been collecting money from NICO members claiming that this pulley set for the KA24de is coming out. He isn't a registered NICO vendor, yet he claims to give a NICO member discount. My concern is that I cant't take this guy seriously because he doesn't respond to the thread frequently enough, and personally from my experience the production of this so called (pulley set) is taking far to long. I have a contract agreement with this guy to get a pulley set at discount yet I have to dyno this product for him, I really don't like the idea that he isn't responding to forum members, and I really don't want to giveout my credit card number to this guy unless he can prove that he is the real deal, which he hasn't. what is your take on this? Something needs to get cleared up, he is taking far to long, and has made a few promises. Check out the dates of his posts it is starting to look like a scam IMO. I could be wrong though just a heads up. Sorry to bug you Greg.RegardsVincent WilliamsAKA BigVinnie

this information would have been REALLY helpful about two months ago... and maybe we could have gotten some help from paypal. but now that it's been so long, paypal will be no help.

i'm going to suggest filing a complaint with IC3 to everyone who was victimized. once i get through the process, i'll post here again and let everyone else know what to expect and share helpful information. it might be lunch time before i get to it though because i'm busy at work.

Sorry about your dilemma Dex I would of said something to the whole NICO community at the time if I could have. Legally I can't do any finger pointing and call Dustin a fake if he isn't. If he is a legitimate business man that would of just put me in a bad place for a law suit. Reason being he could have become a vendor at my forum if he kept to his words and then it puts me in a bad position with my administrators or my administrators them selves. It seems as if Dustin isn't keeping up to his end and he took your money, if I were you I would get the I.P addresses from the NICO admin were he made his posts and emails from then you can start locating this guy and file with the feds. Internet fraud is a felony offense and the feds are willing to help as long as you can compile the information needed.

Group Buys and other internet based purchases should be taken at face value. You'll never catch me giving my hard earned cash to some dude because he made a thread...

Things to look for ahead of time. Is he a BBB member? Does he have bad reports? Did you google his bussiness name?

Buyer beware is the thing that always comes to the fore front of my mind. Never trust people that are selling you something.

just so everyone knows, i did recieve my refund in-full.(minus paypal d-bags' fee). i received it about two weeks ago. it's still unclear what took so long for all of this to go from "hey, why aren't we getting anything" to me getting my money back.

dustin told me only 3 people paid anyway... whatever. i got my money back. aparently he wasn't a scammer afterall. bad business person or unlucky business person? guess i won't know.

/thread.

Good to know man. It sounds like he is just an unlucky business person, who spills information, before it is tangible information. In the business world you make it tangebile before you talk about it. Or else it's just talk, with no meaning.
