So I hooked in my new sony unit and no sound. I then bypassed the amps and still no sound. What have I done wrong here?

Is your wiring harness connected properly? Sometimes the ground wire on the harness is inadequate for proper grounding. I would try grounding the headunit to a screw somewhere behind the headunit. Do the lights and everything come on? Plays tracks?

^yes, all illumination and functions work as they should, I just have no sound w/ the sony unit. I put the factory deck back in and it works, just very quiet b/c of the bypassed amps. Could my sony deck be bad? I have it grounded to the harness adapter, should I ground to something else? Thanks.

check ground, check wires to make sure they are where they should be...

you could do one speaker at a time too... plug it in and if it doesn't work right try reversing them.

also, make sure you're not listening to the radio and also that the volume is actually up

headunit was bad. I went and bought another sony from wal-mart and hooked it up to my adapter and all was well. I am gonna take it back to wal-mart and I will hopefully get my money back for the first sony I bought. Then I am going to best buy and purchasing a nice, quality headunit and speakers and amp, and I may have them install it since some of my wiring is screwed over due to my amp bypass. I hooked them back up and all I keep doing is blowing fuses

Those 2 don't really go hand in hand... but good luck.

how did you bypass the amps? try connecting the speakers directly to the head unit with speaker wire if you havent tried that already
