Pedal is still stiff. Started about 5 days after i turned rotors and put OEM pads/sensors from IOS. Pedal goes in an inch, brakes work maybe 25%. Changed master cylinder, bled lines until perfectly clear fluid, has vacuum pressure, no leaks in lines, fluid level is fine, abs unit hasn't worked for a year, thinking stuck valve in the abs unit? maybe when i pushed the calipers back in it forced some fluid into the unit and pushed a valve shut? any ideas?

You say your ABS hasn't worked for a year... can you describe the problem? It sounds like you have eliminated the master cylinder. My guess is that you're right on your guess with the ABS actuator - or it's a caliper problem... doesn't make sense that multiple calipers would fail all at one time though.

Calipers are fine. ABS unit that was in there when i swapped my engine out leaked. Brake fluid shot right out at the base of the cylinder. Swapped it with the one out of my 93 part car that worked fine before it came off the road. But it didn't work for some reason. Thinking of swapping the leaking one back in there just to see if it would solve the issue for. 92 - 93 is the same unit right? The ABS light comes on at self check. Thinkinh when i pushed the calipers back in it pushed some air or fluid into a cylinder in the ABS unit locking or half locking up a cylinder in there. Is it worth it to take apart the ABS unit? Im thinking maybe just an O ring is bad on the leaking one. some input would be nice.

Wow man you make my life look simple. I am just waxing the Q and trying to find the damn problem with the 25 AMP power window fuse...

Check the code though because it will tell you why the ABS light is on and maybe why the brakes don't work.

I have zero Q45 problems...this week......for once. Actually know Pittsfield from 1969 where an ex [now retired to Nantucket] partner lived.

Wasn't there "once a man from Nantucket..."

The ABS should be compatible. If it looks the same (not like the 94+ style) it should work. I know this sounds overly simplified, but make sure your fuses are in the right slots. I messed that up when I replaced mine on my old car and got the ABS light when it failed the self test.

Nantucket is a mix of paved roads and cobble stone & brick main streets downtown......I bottomed out the chrysler sebring convert. rental daily on those stones- but there is not a single traffic light on island and speed limits of 25-35 on island.....great place to own a jeep as you can get permit to drive on beaches and you need the ground clearance for the cobblestone streets downtown!!!!

Yeah my moms got a 2008 rubicon. Shes gonna let me take it out on the dunes when i go down. Shes got the permit and all, only a select few places you can go on the dunes left though. Mainly towards P town at the tip of the cape. Just got a 94 cherokee myself but isn't on the road. Would love to see how the land cruiser handles in the sand with the tracter tires on it. But 55-60 is about max on the highway with the gearing, lift, and tires on it. Anywho, im about to get off my double shift in a few hours. gonna go tinker with the Q for atleast a few hours before shut eye and back to work =/. Shes lookin good so far for the summer.

"you and your Q are up for retirement soon"....I've been essentially retired since 2000, how else would I have had the time for 10,000+ posts.

Back in history I use to spend at least 1 hour per post on research, now 99% of research has been done.......little Physics changes on a 20 year old vehicle design.

Now brushless electric motors, controllers, and batteries is another matter.
