My baby turned a year old last month so i went in to see 6mt set up was available at any of the dealerships in the Tampa area because last year when i got mine THERE WAS NONE. They told me they would have to charge me $$$$$5,300 to ship one down..( I WAS LIKE MOTHER EFFER YOUR $HITTING ME RIGHT). So i was like suck it and i got the CVT. Why are there still none.

My guess is supply and demand but whatever it was bugging me..

P.s Thanks for listening to me B**CH -Tyler

your already paying a 'destination' charge that is more than enough to get your vehicle to its . . .well . . . DESTINATION.

I went through the same thing, and the dealer pwnt me on it. I didnt realize i got bent over until afterwards. The pretty much charged me the $400 'destination' charge, and then another $450 (I know this isnt as much as u were talking, but same idea =P) to have 2 guys drive up to penn, get my car, and DRIVE IT BACK! My experience up until that point was long and painful with the dealer, so I just said OK because after 4 months I just wanted me EFF'n CAR!

But in heinsight, I paid those sonsobchs a DESTINATION charge to begin with, and then ANOTHER $450 to put a few hundred miles on MY BRAND NEW EFF'N CAR!?!?!!??!!? ARE YOU SERIOUS!?!?!?!!?

If i ever see my dealer on the street i swear to god im gona lay him out . . . he was such a slimey fck . . . ggggrrrr gettin me heated just tellin the story lol and its almost been a year

Anyway, my advice, tell the dealer to shove his 5300 charge up his @$$ and get you your EFF'n 6MT or your going to drive out to a dealer who has one yourself, and they will lose their sale. They will suck your dk if u tell them your gona go to a competing dealership hahahaha

damn i dunno how u guys do it, i would never buy a new car unless its exactly what i want. and a transmission seems like a major option that you'd prefer.

Yeah from what it sounds like, there are a lot of pushovers (no disrespect) on this forum. So many people saying they wanted a 6MT but "had" to get a CVT....... bull

I went to my dealership for a week or two hounding them for the SPECIFIC car I wanted. Nothing more, nothing less. After some conversations with the manager, he was finally able to get one that had just been rolled out of the factory.... Im so glad I did not settle

Not a pushover, just the first time i've ever bought a car and dealt with a salesman. I am a genuine person and was not ready to get lied to and deceived as heavily as I did. Naive yes, pushover no.

I did get the exact car I wanted, but after months of exposing short comings and BS that the dealer was trying to feed me, and not producing a car. when one finally came up on the radar, i didnt give a fk how i got it, $450 was not gona stop me from getting my car asap. My frustration and anger clouded my logic and I just signed it without thinking that extra charge through properly.

after that, you can be damn sure i'll never put up with a salesman crap ever again, i learned ALOT from my first stealership experience, the next one will go much smoother =)

From what I understand the ordering a car process, at least for nissan should go like this:

1. Order car2. Dealership searches for car with those options in database.3. If nothing is available, they order it from manufacturer (plant is in TN)... which takes a lot longer but still... its called a last resort for a reason.

Its called "available options" for a reason....

I was not calling names on you. I was merely stating the fact that we get a lot of people on these forums wishing they had 6MT and come here to b**** about it!

Makes me appreciate my 6speed MT that much more (especially with my new STS kit and Redline Fluid) when I read those posts about people b****ing wishing they had a 6 speed. FYI I had to wait 90 days for my coupe since i ordered directly from the factory but got every option i wanted ** Darkslate, 6 Speed MT, Premium non tech, well worth the wait

You know,..you guys with the 6MTs really need to calm down and stop calling guys here with the CVTs MT wannabes or as Viper kindly puts it..pushovers. You don't know peoples situations were/are when they bought their cars. Maybe they had to get a car ASAP and didn't have the luxury of waiting. I know for myself I chose the CVT since my last vehicle was stick I wanted to enjoy my cup of coffee when I was driving to work instead of shifting gears. Unfortunately for me, I didn't know that this car was going to be so much fun to drive. hind sight is 20/20

Maybe some people "had" to get CVT because that's all the dealership can get and again, the customer didn't have the luxury of time to wait.

True, but I would have rather bought a hooptie for 400 dollars and rode around in that for 2 months, than get something I knew I did not want.

I would have too but at the time of purchase of my car, my brother who sold me the car kept asking me..Are you sure you want CVT instead of manual? And as the jacka$$ I was, I sai d yup,..Don't want or need a manual, rather have a CVT...

When I first started lookin, I knew I wouldn't settle for CVT. First they tried searching all of CT, then they tried searching the whole New England area for a 6mt. They kept telling me they couldn't find one etc. When I asked about the ordering process, and discovered how long it took. I told them I would be willing to drive as far as I had to for it so search the entire country. He came up with the car for me in New Jersey, less than 2 hours away from me. I guess the moral of the story is "If you really want it, be pushy" Especially the way the market is now. They will do almost anything to sell a car.

I know what you're talking about...

When I was looking at buying my Tundra I wanted a black truck with black interior and 4 wheel drive. I couldn't find it ANYWHERE. Literally, there was not a truck like that in all of California. The closest one was like three states away. I asked why and the guy said, well Toyota figures that West Coasters don't want black vehicles with black interiors and that California people don't want or need 4 wheel drive...

I looked at him and said "Hi, my name is Kyle Millen...I live in Orange County california AND I WANT THAT FRIGGIN' TRUCK...I will give you money for it...you give me a truck, I give you money..."

I ended up settling on a 2WD slate (dark grey) truck with black interior.

When I bought my 6MT 2.5 last May, the dealership tried everything they could to get me into a CVT. First they said none were available locally, then they said they'd have to order one from the factory and it would take up to 3 months. They were taken aback when I calmly told them that I didn't care how long it took, I wanted a manual shift and only a manual shift. Surprise, surprise...they called me a week later and said they had found the 6MT I wanted in the color I wanted with the options I wanted and I could pick it up as soon as it was dealer prepped. I bought the Altima Coupe 6MT primarily because my first choice, the 2008 Corolla "S", was no longer being made with a manual shift. All I can say at this point is "thank you, Toyota, for discontinuing the MT on the "S" model!" Otherwise I might be driving a Toyota now instead of discovering what a great car the Altima Coupe 2.5 with 6MT is!!

thats good stuff, ya i think its actually a bit easier to get the 6MT in the 2.5 just because its marketed as the more 'affordable' model, i feel like alot more 2.5 6MT's were produced than 3.5's.

Thats awesome that it worked out for you so well though, i'm jealous!!! haha

The funny thing is that no matter what model of the Corolla you pick it's still the low powered 1.8L 132HP@6K motor unless you opt for the XRS which has the 2.4L 158HP@6K.

Not even close to the Altima's 2.5L 175HP @ 5.6k motor! And it's far more sexier looking than the Corolla!

I think you made the right choice

I think it took me 3 or 4 months to find my 6mt G. My only requirements were that it was an 05 or newer, 6mt, and fit my budget (under 22k).

I'm glad I got the car, but I wish I got the premium package and a different color.

Kyle, the Toyota people are right when it comes to SoCallers not wanting Black on Black (well at least me lol). I HATE having a black car with black leather interior. It's a sure fire way to melt like butter on a hot stove.

Someone want to paypal me 3k for an IP paint job? Anyone? lol

I was offered a cvt, told em to email me when they had a 6mt in silver available, that my current vehicle worked fine and I could do without till then. I never heard back from them, but I found a silver 6MT in the newspaper that I went in and traded for :P

I went to every Nissan dealership here in DFW looking for a black coupe with tint and no moon roof with a power seat. The only place I found that had one was the dealership closest to my house at the time. As for transmission, I would have taken a manual if they had it, but no dealership even had an Altima Coupe in manual in black. I ended up going with the CVT because I figured I was getting the 2.5 to be my daily driver and I wouldn't miss shifting as much. I regret getting the CVT every now and then, but I love not having a leg that's going to fall off after driving home in traffic.
