Well I was having trouble with getting the transmission into place earlier (see here ------------->zerothread?id=182199). Well now the transmission is back up where it should be, but getting the splines from the transmission to line up in the clutch has become a problem. We have been trying to stab the transmission back in the motor with no luck. So I need help quick. Also when we bolting the clutch to the flywheel there seemed to be a pretty tight fit (had to use pliers to remove the alignment tool) any chance this would be what is making remounting the transmission so hard?

the alignment tool should have just slid out. You may want to reinstall the clutch disc and make sure it is lined up correctly. Any yeah, that transmission is a PITA to get in right. Did you try turning the flywheel any while you stabbed it in? perhaps that would help line the splines up. Also you might try hitting the other end of the transmission with a hammer as you wiggle it around in the pilot bearing to get it to slide in.

Good luck!

BIG PITA. we tried all the above moving the transmission in all directions while turning the crank. We tried everything except for reinstalling the clutch. The only reason we never tried reinstalling the clutch is bacause it was such a ***** to get the transmission where it is now. But thanks for the help so far. I think we are going to try it again tomorrow when we have more energy, daylight, patience.

Took me and 2 friends 1hr the other night. Two of us held the transmission one form the front whiel one at the back. The 3rd had a rubber mallet and would wack the end of the transmission. Got it close enough to get some bolts in. Slowly went around the transmission maybe doing 1 turn on each bolt before the next one.
