Well I just got back from picking up my 2001 Maxima. Had the IACV & the ECM both replaced. Had to take it back to them cause when car was put in park, car would die & shut off on its own, would not idle. When I just picked it up right now, car was idleing & not cutting off, but occasionally the rpm would drop a bit & barely idle rough, but would go back to normal idle. But if I reved up the motor it would either cut off or idle real rough, then the rpm's go back to normal. I got the guy to come out & witness it, & after I reved it a few times, it finally cutoff. He tells me its the computer trying to adjust to the sudden reving up of the motor. Bull crap.

He told me most cars will do that if you rev them up while in park! What a crock of crap. I told him this car never did this until we got the new computer put in. He says to drive it a few days and see if the computer adjust itself to it. What the heck can be causing this? I told him if it keeps doing it, maybe they need to take it back to the dealer since they are the ones who had to program it & see if they can figure it out. This is BS.

the guy is full of $hit. most likely they have not readjusted the idle after replacing the iacv. also might be that they put a wrong or bad ecu in.

He said yesterday when I picked it up that they adjusted the throttle positioning and yes it did help some, BUT...it still idles down just a bit as it is in park, car seems like it will wanna die, but don't. And when I rev up the motor, it takes about 3-4 times of doing it before it dies out. Whereas before every time you reved it up it would die out every time. I spent a little over $1,500 for alot of work and it does this? I don't think so. I called the dealership where they took it to get re-programed and he said their techs would be able to figure it out but to take it to the shop and have them bring it to the dealer so I wont get charged. No car dies out after reving it up! Trys to tell me cars do that. After this is resolved I will never go back there. And they are supposed to be a Nissan/Infiniti specialist! Bull scrap...

i'd get a lawyer and the money spent at that shop back. the idle adjustment is not as simple as turning the screw on the throttle body. i can't remember but the procedure might be in the stickies or the fsm. i rev my engine up just to listen to it roar and never had it die. fight the shop!

Check for stored trouble codes in ECU. It's possible the EGR valve is stuck open, or there is some other source of air leak.
