I'v been having problems with wheel hop even after poly bushings and shocks. The only thing I think might fix it is boxing in the control bars. What do u think and whats the best way to do this? P.S I have a welder.

What bushings did you replace? Sub-frame & differential? I've been contemplating boxing mine vs kazama/ tanabe replacements(for camber adjustability) for a while. However, I don't think that would solve your wheel hop issue. What kind of welder do you have? Obviously you'd have to remove the paint/rust. Personally, I'd do it this way. Use a die-grinder with a wire wheel attatchment. Make a template with cardboard, and trace it on to the piece of steel. Cut out steel with saw/torch. Grind/file to shape while checking progress to control arm several times. Tack weld into place a few spots. Weld in small sections to avoid warping/melting control arm. Wire wheel again. Paint/powdercoat.

I replaced all the control arm bushings and inspected the sub frame & differential bushings. I have a Clark wire welder and a bead blaster for cleaning the control arms if I box them in.

get the spl subframe spacers, or the solid ones seem to help me out. and if it doesn't fix it for you it's still a good investment

Honestly, control arm bushings alone won't do much if anything for your wheel hop issue. As tamdo714 said get rigid subframe spacers, which will most likely fix your problem. If that fails, then you'll have to replace your diff bushings aswell.

On older s chassis cars lots of the wheel hop is generated by poor subframe / unibody connection. Get SPL subframe spacers, or even better, SPL solid subframe bushings (these will increase your NVH significantly and you'll need balls to street them)

Wanna elimate wheel hop?

#1: Extremely stiff engine and transmission bushings

#2 Solid subframe bushings

#3 Pillowball links or ES bushings for all rear suspension arms.

End of story. Doing only one of these things will help, but not won't eliminate it completely.

I went cheap and used hockey pucks 2 per side for motor mountseliminated 75% of my wheel hop. (stiff mounts do work)
