I posted here several years ago regarding multiple problems with my 2001 Pathfinder. Most issues have been resolved with help from here. So I'm still chasing a couple problems with the SES light and car alarm.

First the SES: I'm getting Misfire Coil One code. Car starts, runs and idles flawlessly. Has a stumble and hesitation at 3500-4000 RPM. Clears up beyond that. I have replaced the plugs with factory replacements and platinums with no change. I have replaced all coils with factory Hitachis with no change. I get roughly 15-16 MPG in town driving and 20-22 MPG on the highway.

Second the Alarm: I have never been able to unlock the doors on the vehicle with the key fob more than a hand full of times. I have replaced the battery multiple times. I have reprogrammed the key fob a couple times. When I test the key fob in store at the little test stations it works. The lock function works almost every time. The most annoying part is I can't and have never been able to unlock the door with the key without setting of the alarm. I have read threads saying the alarm is stuck in arming mode and how to get it out to no avail. If I unlock the door or the hatch with the key, the alarm sets.

Any helped would be greatly appreciated as I will be handing off this car to my oldest stepson within a few months.

I forgot to add on the alarm issue, when I go around corners or hard turns my interior dome lights come on and the door ajar dash light illuminates. I believe towncivilian once suggested I check my door sensors, but I have no clue where those are located.

Check the FSM for both. If the code is what the FSM suggest (P0301?), then there are other things to look for like fuel and compression.

For the alarm, the FSM is very thorough on testing items. You should walk through it (check the keyless entry and anti-theft sections in the EL section). Also, for the key fob, check to see if the contact pad on the circuit board is gummed up. A little isopropyl alcohol on a Q-tip works quickly).

Good luck!
