i have a 97 s14, 120k on it. the car chassis wise feels loose as s*it. the car just doesnt feel solid anymore, going over bumps and uneven roads everything feels loose and sloopy. i live in nyc and the roads suck that and add coilovers i guess it finally took a tole on my frame.

so what can i do to possibly stiffen back up the car? i was going to start with checking over all the bolts that attach the front/rear subframe to the car. i have nismo mounts and spl collors. i was going to get spl diff bushings because when i let off the cluth the rear chatters, also if i shift hard form first to second ill get wheel hop then the tires just spin.

i was also thinking of a power brace for the front and possibly fender braces i heard that it does wonders..

any suggestions will help. i do not want to cage the car. so that is not an option.

Power brace will help along with strut bars.

fender braces should help too not sure how much though.

Do you still have the OEM 12 year old bushings?

It's not as common as the other ones listed but I remember reading on Fresh Alloy that someone used structural foam and filled the a-pillar corners and rocker panels and it added quite a bit of rigidity. I plan on doing it on my old S13 to stiffen it up after all the years of wear.

I think (like mentioned already) if you replace all the old worn out bushungs with new ones, the car would feel much more solid.

Then, you can do things such as

Tower BarsStabilizer BarsC pillar barDo luck bars (rear cross bars, floor bars, the lower bars are cool too. Forgot the name)NAMS fender brace and strut tower to firewall brace.Safety21 roll cage

Pillowball tension rods, rear upper control arms, forward links, toe links.

If you get all those, the car will be SOLID.

Of course, a nice stiff suspension is a given...

so far my suspension setup is as follows:megan track coilssus. tech. sway barsbattle version tension rods (front)spl subframe collorstien tie rods.

so i need to do the rear arms, diff bushings, steering rack bushings. and i should be good?

also i think my dampering on my coils are set to soft 7/5 im going to bring them up to 17/15 that could be why its on the bouncy side...

I would get the whole bushing kit from Energy Suspension, RS*R, or whoever else makes them.

The kit replaces the sway bar bushings, tension rods if you haven't gone with pillowball mounts yet, control arm, steering rack, and all of the bushings in the back.

I put the RS*R kit on my car, and it made a world of difference. It doesn't feel like a weak convertible anymore.

see its not that my car isnt stiff, its just doesnt feel soild.. i guess thats the best way to put it.

its feels shakey and loose over bumps, handling wise its stable and stiff, it feel planted to the ground its jus when i go over bumps it feels like crap, all loose and wierd feeling.. i dont know its one of those things you have to feel cant really describe it well in words.

do what you said previously then, start with the coilover dampening (17/15, or whatever you prefer), first to see if that helps anything. afterwards, differential and steering rack bushings, and you should be okay. if you are still not satisfied, replace bushings all around (subframe, etc), or get new arms that will usually have new bushings.

Strut tower bars are not overkill, but if you are experiencing bad flex when performing corners, get some new sway bars.
