I'm chasing a set of stiffer valvesprings for the SOHC, Pioneer Automotive components have them and are 25% stiffer than OEM, but do not respond to emails; i have sent 3 and not one reply, so i do not want to deal with them.

Does anyone know where i can get stiffer valvesprings (between 10-25% stiffer than oem) for the SOHC?

I am chasing the outer springs only, i plan on running new OEM inner springs.

Thanks, i already have those part no's, however as i posted Pioneer aren't responding to emails; this is the only form of communication between myself and them as i'm in australia. I'm not making a long distance call for valvesprings.

I have contacted Ferrea to see if they can manufacture something for me.

let me do some more checking but I have been told you can use exhaust valve springs from the L28ET (Nissan 280zx motor) for an upgrade on both intake AND exhaust.

*edit*

I can't find them in Crane's catalog but the SCCA KA24E's are supposed to be running Crane valve springs Link->

and another link on our very own forums here where I heard about using the Lseries valve springs as an upgrade:

If you need me to make a call on those also, let me know I'm more than happy to help out a fellow NICO member (and I'd like a set for myself when I get to building my KA24E-T)

Thanks import_ant, i appreciate the help!

hopefully crane might also have something similar that can be adopted for use on the intake side.

oh, and the solid lifter thing...already have them. they are worth it, i've been running mine for over 2 years now with no problems, one set in my fwd U12 KA, the other in a mate's fwd U12 KA, i passed the design of them over to gabe at hybridka and he seems to have many happy customers who are running them.

So now i get a response back from an email sent in frustration the other day....they get that email but convienently "lose" my original one sent a week ago....

I would rather go with a larger, better known company such as Crane Cams that have been in the game for sometime, if they know cams, they know valvesprings.

Anyone that's after the Crane springs (99884-8) they come in a set of 8, so if you have a friend with a SOHC that will go halves with you, that'll have the exhaust side covered. They are dual springs, so the OEM inner/outer spring combo can be tossed completely. Now to find some springs for the intake side and titanium retainers / new locks.

Gabe (deviousKA) mentioned a while ago that the springs for an L series can only be used on the exhaust side.

I need to take some measurements of the intake springs to see what will work, afterall they are slightly smaller in diameter.

ok I've always been backwards on that, I thought you could only use the exhaust springs FROM the L series. haha. glad that's been cleared up. I'll try to give Crane a call either tomorrow or Friday and see what I can dig up for intake springs.
