First of all, I searched for sticking / stuck caliper and didn't really find much.

My Pass Rear caliper seems to be sticking on the inside leaving the inside pad dragging on the rotor. The driver's rear is leaking. My car has 36,000 miles on it and has had 3 brake-related repairs. rotors turned @ 700; 20,000 and 35,000 miles. The 35K job had pads which is when I found out that the calipers on the rear were having problems. Infiniti is telling me that calipers are 'wear' parts which seems strange (and I expected them to, so they don't have to warrant them)

So my questions are: Is this too soon to have to rebuild calipers? I don't ride the brakes at all. Second, how difficult is the job? I've never rebuilt calipers, but I know my way around brake jobs. And finally, would it probably be under $300 for Infiniti to rebuild them?

Seems like the bumper to bumper warranty doesn't get you squat with Infiniti.

I happen to have the brochure here for the "Elite Infiniti Extended Protection Plan" and the calipers and seals are covered under that warranty, so it's hard to imagine they aren't under the original one. It's my understanding that the extended warranty is just that - an extension of the original warranty.

They do exclude consumable wear items (like brake pads, clutch linings, wiper blades, tires, etc) as you would expect - as well as items specified in the maintenence schedule, but the calipers are specifically covered.

I would check again, and escalate your complaint to the dealership manager or Infiniti corporate service if necessary.

Good luck!

Call Infiniti and confirm that caliper are not covered and try a new dealership.

If there is no eveidence of high temperature lubrication on the caliper pins, then it is dealer incompetence. Press your case with the service manager, and if he is unresponsive, the Infiniti district service representative..

I can tell you from my experience in working with Infiniti that brake calipers are in fact covered under warranty. You have a 4 year/60k mile limit on the warranty. If they won't handle it, take it to another dealer or start climbing the ladder of power... starting with the Service Manager.

Thanks, I have an appt on the 30th to have them check other items. I will also speak to the service manager and ask for a written statement that infiniti doesn't cover calipers if he can even provide one. With the amout of brake trouble I've had with this car I'm ready to work my way up the complaint line.

What happens when you don't make fiends with service manager from day one [of course this job has a high turnover] anyway when you drop in for oil changes every 90 days, they become more responsive.

Remember the warranty is just with Nissan, when the service manager is resistive you immediately escalate.
