Can some of the more knowledgeable people pick some useful threads or commonly asked questions and have a moderator make them stickies? I think that would make things run a lot smoother. We could even come up with a tech thread and post tidbits that might be of interest to newcomers and such. What do you guys think? :)

we need afew more mods here (in the CA forum)...we only have TMS as of now...movingviolation240 (Paul) is really busy with work and nomore_mr2 seems to have disappeared... how do we go about getting another mod?

(I'll volunteer! I'm not really sure what to do, but I am on this forum alot :D)

I don't want stickies...I vote NO! I Like things the way they are. This way there is a small group of us that talk to eachother and ask questions about everything and everyone knows how eachothers motors are coming along and such. If we had stickes, then outsiders could come in and try and attain a CA and screw it up w/o ever becoming a part of the CA family.

I hate to be an ***... but way to be a nazi Doogz. I thought the idea of having a forum is so a large number of different people can talk to eachother and get a wide variety of info and input. But if you were only being sarcastic in the post then i'm truely sorry.

I wasn't being sarcastic. I seriously do like it better this way. That doesn't mean that if stickies are put up that i'd get all pissed and ***** about it, but personally i prefer it like this. If someone wants to know anything then i'd be more than happy to answer whatever i can and so would anyone else here. I think it just gives more interactment between the people in this forum, rather than being able to just login and check the FAQ and leave.

True, but it would still be helpful to have stickies that answer some basic questions so people like you, who have been around here a while, don't get tired of answering the same stupid old questions again and again. Just a thought.

doogz, i agree with you some what about the sticky and crowd support, but i would like to see at least one sticky on FAQs , and parts that will work for it like plugs, clutches, turbo, down pipe, you know stuff that we are all working on figuring out, but a new guy might not know that we would have to rexplain every week! i would also like to have the how to program the SAFC's and the z32 repin up!

I would like to see some new moderator support around here!its just that most of us are still pretty fresh with cars and motors. we are all still learing some basic stuff on the Ca's but i think we do need some help supervising and maybe even cleaning up our little corner of the nico world, TMS is across the world and is busy, Paul doesnt even have a CA motor anymore and is never around here, brian never even had a 240 or running motor, but new his car stuff , hes never on Nico anymore either.. that leaves daunt who is also void from nico , and personally has prob never seen a CA in real life so i doubt he could be of much help even if he was always present. TMS needs back up ! someone with the knowledge of the motor that owns the motor and that that motor runs and is in a car. someone to help keep order and be a guide for us. i think boostboy would be ideal if hes for it, Ian, myself also but i think ill talk to hittman and or fred and do somesuggesting!

Ok, i mean if you are just gonna do some of the basic small stuff like that, then that would be great. I just don't want it to be like the suspension forum. No offense exar, you did a great job on that FAQ. Other than this forum, i probably put more posts and time into the suspension forum until that FAQ. It is so complete that i rarely feel the need to post their anymore. I check in their from time to time and the only questions are about wheel size now and its just not the same.

Whatever happened to the new moderator idea? MadSci can you talk it up with the other moderators to see about getting us some new help out here in the CA forum?

if my opinion has any relevance I'd like to add boost_boy as a candidate for moderator...he's extremely knowledgable, and helpful to all of us CA guys!

I am not opposed to stickies, they work better than a fig leaf when I feel like going "au naturalle" around the lab, you have to yank them off quick though:eek:

I can compile some basic information about the CA family; bore & stroke, compression, HP and torque, timing, idle speed, spark plug #, etc.

It might take me a couple of days, anything else you guys would like to see?

I second the boost_boy idea and Jon would make a good moderator too! TMS...an FAQ sounds good and I think you should make an aim name too.
