My dad just gave me a 81 datsun king cab and it has no speakers or stereo and im planning on setting it up and just wondering what kinda speakers i can fit into the doors and kick pannels i already plan on putting some speaker boxes in the back. Stock speakers, if the truck came with them, were mounted in the drivers and passenger side kick panels, by your feet. You''ll see either a knock-out, or a scribed panel. there were no door mounted speakers, however many people cut out the bottom forward part of the door to install speakers. Typically a 6" will fit fine in the doors, however I think the stock locations were 4". You'll have to look and measure yourself.

Lucky for you, you have a king cab, which means you can mount subs! I have (3)10" Phoenix Gold subs, (1)800W amp, (1) 200W Amp, and a component set of speakers waiting to be installed!

I have a 85 king cab here are the possibilities. If you remove the rear panels you should find something like this.

The upper hole with the bracket is behind the back rest for the rear seat. I have removed the rear seats and back rest.
The lower hole on the drivers side in my truck holds the jack. I also removed it (I have a truck box in the bed).
Good luck

If your gonna put speakers in the door, be sure to make a spacer so your window will roll down haha like this:
Made the door panel myself

I used to have a Mazda b2k extended cab. under the extended cab windows i cut out a section and fiberglass a 12" sub enclosure on both sides. then on the oem plastic cover, i cut a tight fit 12" hole for the sub. they sounded pretty good, but remember not to face the subs directly at eachother, they tend to "fight" eachother. any ways that was my remedy, to avoid nasty sub boxes that scream "break the window and carry me off", plus a goofy carpeted box just looks tacky to me.
