Okay, so basically the problem is that when I am listening to my stereo the sound cuts in and out, however when this happens the unit maintains power and is continuing to play, the eq bars are still jumping too, just no sound. Also when it cuts in and out it is not sudden it kinda gets static then cuts out. It is not the cd player because I have tried it with a new one and still the same problem. I loose sound to all 4 speakers at the same time, so it is not the wiring to the individual speakers, all my connections are solid, the only thing I can think of is that maybe I have a bad ground (but if there is no ground the power wouldn't work right?). sometimes if I shut my door it will cut out or if I am accelerating it will cut out... Any help is much appreciated.

so after a little investigation and profanity I have pretty much narrowed it down to the factory preamp. I'm going to try hooking up one of my amps and run new speaker wire/rca's and see if eliminating the factory wiring/amp will resolve my issue.

It could be the amp, but if closing the door causes it to go in and out as well, then I might be inclined to look towards a bad speaker or a shorted wire in the door or the boot.

I did, the wire going to the individual speakers was the first thing that I looked at. It is all fixed now, I ran new speaker wire from my amp in the trunk to all my speakers and tweeters. Im pretty sure it was a bad connection at the factory preamp.
