2007 M35X. I have 3 ports for a cable off armrest in back seat. If I hook up my ipod (nano 3rd generation) using only a headphone jack to the two audio ports I can play my ipod through the speakers using the Aux. function of the stereo. THe ipod screen does not come up on the Infinity screen and I have to manage the music from the ipod, no biggie. However there is a single video port as well back there. What is that useful for? APple makes a cable that goes out of the ipod's main connection site (not the headphone jack) that goes to either 2 audio cables (that works for audio) or 3 component video cables (made for playing your ipod and its screen through a TV) . IF i hook one of those video cables up to the video of the infinity, (the iPod is set for "TV out" as required). I would think that the point of those three outlets would be to play any external device through the infinity's sound and video screen. I realize that I am putting only one video cable into the infinity, but if it was goign to work it should work, although only one color would show. I could try a cable that has a single video cable for all colors but I dont want to buy it yet since I think it wil not work anyway based on my test.

Anyway to get my iPod screen to show up on the Infinity's screeN? I know the 2008 have an ipod outlet and cable. but even that seems only to show the song list and not any video.

thanks

roger

Its just the simple 3 connections u can buy at best buy, i have a 2006 and u have to have ur ipod set to tv on, something like that ill check again and in order to view while driving u have to hack the dvd, way worth it and easy. And no special settings for aux.

Hello there. Ok, here goes. The advanced technology package/premium package that has these jacksallows the jacks on the back of the council to access the auxilery feature of the system. This allows you to run an ipod or DVD player for that matter to it...now, to answer your question, the DVD jack is really not needed in most applications, as there is a DVD in the center council (so why would one ever need to plug in a DVD to this)...however, I personally bought my M45 with these jacks for a different reason. I have a pretty tricked out stereo in there and I have my ipod video/iphone hooked up to it using all 3 jacks (IE: video and audio) so that I can play video's from my ipod on the screen. This is cool because you can download movies and music video's to your iphone or video ipod and then play them on the screen. You will want a high quality cable for this. (not those crappy ones for like $10 that run thru your phono plug on your ipod)...you want a good one that plugs into the bottom. I have a monster cable one that was about $50 or so I think...then, taking this a step further, the retards at Infiniti have a lock on the video system so that the car video functions only work with the emergency brake on while the car is in park. There is a great bypass for this on ebay if you just type in m35 dvd bypass or something like that. It is not hard to wire up (maybe an hr) but it will now allow you to watch video's or music video's while the car is in motion. Equally as important, it disables the dumb feature on the navigation where you can not program in an address while driving. So, sorry for the book, but that is the main use for the video jack. Its really cool once you get it going, I would totally recommend it!

On your other point, this is not ingerated port. IE, its an INPUT only port....much like the ones on the back of your TV. You will get anything on your front screen or dash controls in any that will control any device through these ports. Any you plug in here will have to be controlled at the device itself.
