What is the purpose of the circuit board in the door speakers? I have to remove that mounting plate in order to get my speakers to fit, and was just wondering what that crap was for.

This should be posted in the stereo section of nico but anyway. IIRC it is the power amplifier (possibly a simple crossover as well) for the stock speaker setup.

If you are pulling from a new head unit direct to the speakers then remove it.

There should also be an amplifier in the trunk of your car ( a little silver box.) for the rear speakers, if you dont bybass this when yu install an aftermarket stereo and front speakers then your back speakers will be very loud compared to the fronts.

Its a fading green S13 coupe. What color is yours? If you say Maroon with an exhaust then were you the guy on Howland I nodded to just the other day? Do you go up to KMart on Thursdays?

I know or have seen most of the local 240's around here is why I asked. I rev or nod to old ladies driving them even hehe..

As far as Kmart nope never gone, have lived here for 13 yrs, owned 2 240s, and used to hang out there before it was a car spot...(7-8 yrs ago when I was a mid teen) Think the car spot was old walmort back then.. I drive by it every now and again for some reason or another though.

The exhaust side of things consits of a HS header, single cat (I had 2 stock, and used to run a test pipe and gutted precat but when the header was added the noise was greatly increased to a honda rasp, while removing the test pipe didnt hurt performance and lowered / deepened the noise, so I run a cat) and an apexi N1 single...
