Hey everyone

I'm going to be picking up a Code Red 3.5 Coupe with the Premium Package tomorrow. I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!

I have a JL amp and an Eclipse subwoofer from my last car and I'm wondering if anyone knows if this can be attached to the Bose soundsystem in the Altima? I'd rather not buy a new head unit but I want to use the sub in it

Hey there. I'm New here. I myself are trying to get a 3.5 Code red, this color does not seem to be too popular where I'm from. I first wanted a black one but i was concinced that it would be too much of a drag cleaning it since you notice that dirt on black cars easily. I was just wondering if you have any pictures to share?

How do you like the red? I have not seen it in person. I have always loved red cars, but I am also picky on the color, if it's not the right red then forget it.

You can get a line converter to connect the amp to the factory sub wires or you can get a PAC interface that will give you RCA outputs from the headunit. The problem with both of these options is that you are still limited by the auto-bass defeat of the factory headunit (it lowers bass output as you turn up the volume). Something like JL CleanSweep would resolve that but it is pretty pricey.

Thanks audtatious...I think a line converter will be used to hook it up. I'm getting the stereo put in on Wednesday and they're going to build a custom panel for it in the trunk. I don't think there'll be much space left after it's all in but i'll post pics when it's done.

They're also going to put in a separate dial that will control the bass output independent of the other speakers. Hopefully that will negate the system's bass defeat.

The Code Red was a very hard color to find where I am too. At the time I got it, I'm pretty sure it was the only red 3.5 with the options I wanted (premium package/mats) in New Hampshire according to Nissan's website. But it's worth it.

First off, I don't usually like red cars. In fact, the only car I ever really liked in red is a Ferrari. But this thing is beautiful . It's a bright red (which I was worried about because I usually get dark colors) that really catches your attention. The red color with the 3.5's big wheels screams sports car rather than midsize coupe.

It also looks much better in person. None of the pictures do it justice. The first thing I noticed when I parked it next to another car was how big it actually was. Its lines are deceiving and somehow make it look smaller in pictures. I had it parked next to a 2004 BMW 325xi and it looked about the same size.

Don't hesitate to get the red! There was much diliberation for me between the black, silver, and red. I concluded the black would be too hard to keep clean (especially in New England) and the silver wouldn't inspire anyone look twice. But beware, the red draws a lot of attention - especially from the cops.

I'll get some pictures up in the next few days

Good deal.....

I still had problems with Bose bass defeat even though I had an inline PPI para-EQ (PAR-225). Sometimes good enough is simply "good enough"

Post some pix when done and welcome to NICO

I have a MB Quart sub and Amp, this will be going in a 2.5S Coupe with Bose sound. Do I need just a regular Line-Out or do I need something special? I'm a total newb... and because it will auto-bass defeat, you won't be able to turn the bass up? Is that what auto-bass defeat does?

Thanks and sorry for the inexperience.

Chill, you should be able to just use a line output converter and run the RCA cables to the amp. As for the bass defeat, you want to keep the factory headunit's bass around 0 if possible and find a different way to control the bass directly to the sub via the amp. The JL amp has the ability to connect a bass controller directly to it. I'm guessing the MB Quart should have something similar so you can keep consistent sound going to your factory speakers while independently altering the bass intensity.

I got mine put in and the bass on it can be turned up far louder than any normal person could stand even when the Bose unit's volume is set relatively low. I had a dial mounted inside the front compartment (the little silver compartment under the head unit that opens when you push it) where it can't be seen. I just control the bass from there depending on how loud I want it.

Mike, u got a nice car! I ordered the code red...but it wont come in til sometime in early August... =(

Another question about the bass defeat...so if I don't have the bass controller, the bass will be controlled by the factory headunit, correct? How loud is that bass? Looking up some bass controllers, it seems like its pretty costly.

Thanks sooo much. She sure is Beautiful!!!

The red is bright but on that car, it is HOT! I have made up my mind on the code red. now its a matter of getting a decent price on the 3.5 SE.

The code red sure would be even more beautiful and turn more heads if she was tinted and has some shiny chrome rims....... haha. Can you tell I have thinking about what to do when i get mine!

I Envy you that you have yours already! Treat her Good!

Your bass levels will be controlled by the head unit if you don't use a separate controller. It may not be an issue. The amp should have a dial that you can change depending on the input wattage. So if you're finding you don't have enough bass, you can change the settings on the amp so it's louder. The only thing you don't want to do is start putting the head unit's bass up all the way. If your bass is at +5 or so on head unit and the master volume is up really loud you run the risk of blowing the factory speakers.

No, you will need a seperate bass remote. Unless you mount the amp in your center console and dial it up while you drive

I'm running my amp via line converter to my OEM deck. The bass defeat sucks big time! I really want to retain my factory look but I am seriously considering a new head unit because of this default

haha wow this is an old thread!Yea, I'm running into the same problem as you Gen. I'm most likely going to drop some dough on the D3 in the upcoming month or so. My friend works at Best Buy, so that always helps. Some of the lows hit real well, while the REALLY lows suck butt!

It is sad. That and the front end were the main reasons I ended up with a sedan instead of the coupe, which I really wanted. I guess my age is finally starting to catch up with me

If you all bought those Coupe's and not leased them, you should consider installing 6.5 Focal's or 8" in the doors. You get your trunk space back. OR, put a single 10 in the back deck aperiodic. Just a thought.

Look at my trunk space! That's a RF P1L-110, which is a pretty good size box. I can still fit a few dead bodies in there
