Ok I did my homework and searched here and google etc and 3 local shops all of which gave me different answers so I bought my own equipment and will install some myself or maybe farm some out but:

I ordered infinity 2 ohm 60.9CS kappa components @ 95db and the shallow mount 6.5 for rears at 2 ohms use stock head unit. Should be fine there.

Now the rear deck: I will use line out from the rear sub to an aftermarket amp
arc audio
pioneer GM8500 or GM7500
kicker

all seem in my price range JL look nice but more any suggestions for powering the sub? Or do I get a 3 channel and eventually hook up fronts?

Now the mounting of the rear sub. I do not want a box in the trunk since I use it. I will use stock mounting and have considered
kicker CVT $79
pioneer SW2051 s2 the 2 ohm version pancake $114
JL marine 10" but seems expensive for what it is at $220

leaning towards pioneer for the reviews and cost and also smallest depth requirement NOW can I get buy with just this in stock location? easy to get to and replace/swap myself and run with stock bose for now? need new amp?

and all shops quoted building custom enclosure mounted too rear deck. I have not found anyone in searching that has commented or done this or has images? at 3" depth I think this is the stock mount depth. so I am assuming I would only have 2 inches into the trunk space under the deck but how does it look? is the deck reinforced? what about bose amp under there moved?

anyone have images or comments on this rear deck install? is it worth it? I am looking for hard rock, metal, some rap/hip hop and radio top 40 not big gangster rap or classical so I would say bass lines, tight fast drums occasional boom

Here is the system I was going to go with (and may still go with) for my build. I like bass, etc. too and wanted everything to look stock as well. This was also a recommended setup by Crutchfield (who know their stuff).

Polk PA400.1 Monoblock Amp (Amazon.com)
Alpine SWS-1023D 10" Subwoofer (Amazon.com)
MTX re-Q Sound Processor (Amazon.com)
Infinity Reference 1031t Tweeters (Amazon.com)
2 Sets of Infiniti Reference 6032si Speakers (Amazon.com)

is that alpine a shallow mount? The Polk is similar to the Pioneer GM 7500D power wise and specs but the pioneer has bass remote which might help out some with level using the lineout. Then possibly from what I am reading and heard you do not need the MTX necessarily. Just fade/tweak off the fader unit and should be ok

Oh and I basically went with a similar infinity setup for the 6.5" as you listed and the polk/pioneer/arc are all in same boat SQ and power wise just price and preference I think. Same as for the alpine over pioneer sub I believe. So you would just mount in the stock location and keep it free air

Yeah it's a shallow mount. I specifically told the Crutchfield rep what I wanted and he set me up with what I'd need.

Then they should work fine. The guy sat the shop said that since I was amping the sub it didnt matter about the sub itself. Could be anything, They were both gonna mount 5" depth subs and just box them and mount to underside of rear deck. So about 2" box would protrude into the trunk space from under rear deck.

but once I read about the quality of the pioneer and some others and how hard they hit and they fit in the stock space I thought cool. Now my question will they hit as free-air in the trunk or sound like fart cans?

I trust Crutchfield (although I look for a better deal on the parts they carry as they can be a little on the expensive side) and their opinion. They are the best in their field IMO. If they said it would work, it should work.

Yes They know their systems and it will work for sure. Are you planning on leaving in open air, stock mounting?

Stock mounting. Gonna make it look factory. IF I do it. I might just only do the fronts as one of mine is rattling.

JJ, can you tell me how you got the front 60.9 installed w/o hitting the front window when it is rolled down? how did you stack up the adapter brackets?

That was my plan until I saw how much room a sealed box under the deck needed.

Almost pulled the trigger on the JL Audio sub (free air)

but plans changed, reasons are here:

Well I used a Kicker LC3 box in the trunk with alpine mounted to back seat deck and line outs and it works great. The sub is awesome very clean and plenty of bass. Over powers the stock HU amp. the infinities suck IMHO and I am definitely going to change out. The tweeters rattle and buzz like walmart speakers and have no way to mount in the stock location.

I tried everything. I checked the connections I dyomatted the complete tweeter pod area and even the door panel to eliminate the buzz and withing hours it is back. The speakers sound blown. They are 2 ohm Kappa 6.5CS

I'm thinking about replacing the deck sub with a small amp, just so i can keep the stealthy look. just wondering if any has ACTUALLY done this and if they have had success or failure?

I tried that and it did not work well. The Bose sub is "balanced", for lack of a better term, with the stock amp. Sounded very "muddy". Ultimately I went with a 12" Alpine type R in a band pass box with an Alpine 1000W amp (something I did not want to do because of trunk space). Takes up a lot of trunk space but gave me the sound I wanted and the response is tight enough so as not to allow any rattles (trunk or deck). Interesting comment on the Infinity speakers. I went with 629i in the front/back and Infinity Reference 1031t tweeters in the front. Phenomenal sound and no rattles or buzzing.

i was thinking about running a small 10" free air sub on the rear deck with an amp? IDK? I'm not looking for rediculous bass but something to that will compete with the high end!

Do you have your doors and highs amped? how was the install? did the tweeters fit in the stock location?
thanks for the reply!
