okay so the previous owner butchered the stereo system in my s13. he had wired it to the battery and didn't use and the stock stuff. my question is since i'm not electronically inclinded, what brand cd player out there mates with the stock plug? or am i forced to take to someone?

no aftermarket radio mates up to the stock plug. what you need to do is buy an adapter harness if you are using the stock plug. other than that you can hard wire that in.

if the harness is hacked...either wire whatever harness of the unit you buy or get a stock harness and reattached the wires.

Its not to hard either way, as long as you can see colors.

Or fork out like $400 and some one will get your car playing music hopefully headunit included in that price..

when you buy an aftermarket stereo, it comes with a harness that plugs into it, with all the wires leading off of it, which is what you connect to the wires coming off of the car-end of the wiring harness. If the car-end of the wiring harness is cut, then you gotta find a new one and cut that area off and connect it in, then things should go smoothly. Don't take it to someone, it's such a loss of money. If anything, ask personal friends and stuff for help.

At my store I charge $65 labor to install a radio into a vehicle with a chopped harness. However, my labor rate is the lowest of about any place I know of...... especially in Illinois.

thats a really good cost for labor. i live just outside of pensacola . i've been driving around without music for a year now so you can imagine it bothering me. folks in the area are really proud of their work. i'll call around. hopefully i don't get the shaft.

little to far for me to go to help, but it's really not to hard to do. There are a few custom shops over that way that are really good, and fairly reasonable on prices. Been a few years since I've been that way, but they should be easy to find.........

buy a multimeter, learn how to use it, and it will be very simple to figure out.

If you search for other radio topics one of them will have the 240sx stock wiring diagram. I forget the website but it will tell you what the wires are based off of your stock harness wiring. I used it when I had radio issues when I bought my vert. Then I couldn't test the radio while it was in my lap because they use the bracket as a ground. It's not very hard to figure out the wiring for the stereo but it helps a whole bunch if you know what wire is what. I am pretty sure this was it http://www.installdr.com/Insta....html click on the pdf for your year vehicle scroll down.

here is the s13 one the format is pin, what wire it is, in car color, aftermarket adapter wire color.
