Ok I know many have upgraded their stereos but I have yet to see any posts showing a successful upgrade with also the steering wheel controls.

I went to a few of my local stereo shops and they say it is an extra $500 to do that as it requires two modules in order for it to work.

My question is has anyone done it and what parts did it require.

Also I asked about a new sub woofer and they said it would be best to use a separate amp for the sub.

I am just tired of the aftermarket Ipod connections and want something new.

All of the steering wheel buttons including the phone buttons can be programmed into the PAC SWI-X. However, since the bluetooth phone features are integrated into the factory BOSE head unit, you will lose them if you swap the head unit out.

If you want handsfree bluetooth, then make sure your new head unit has this feature. Depending on the model, you may be able to reprogram the steering wheel buttons to control the handsfree.

Some of the newer head units (ie. Pioneer and Clarion have these features in some models) are coming with steering wheel control/interface built-in. You may want to look at these as it would eliminate any extra hardware.
