I just bought a 2012 Nissan Rogue S. I have the stereo without the navigation system. I like to play my ipod on random and always have the display on which artist is currently playing. Every time I turn the car off and then back on, the stereo resets so that it is no longer on random and displays the number of the song and not the artist the way I like it to. Is there any way to make the stereo stay on these settings as a default or do I have to set the stereo this way every time I turn the car on?

Hm, I could see where that could be annoying. Short of checking the owner's manual, I don't know where that option would be. What happens if you keep the ipod itself on shuffle while you plug it in?

If the ipod is on shuffle, its the same. And I also noticed it plays songs that are not supposed to be played on shuffle. Strange, it's like the Rogue stereo just takes over the i-pod and does things the way it wants. lol.

Way to call out a Nickelback fanboy! :lolling:

All kidding aside, have you tried using the iPod in another vehicle? Let's rule out the possibility that your player may be at fault.

The interface makes all the difference. All my iPods/iPhones with the Nissan interface (which wasn't really offered for our 2008 but works with it) defaults to non-random. Other interfaces in our other vehicles do not behave this way and continue in whatever mode was last used. I can't speak to the interface used in the 2012 but it wouldn't be surprising to me if you didn't have any choice in the matter.

Yup, I think I don't have any choice in the matter.

I had the same problem. The other thing is that with mine, the iPod never shuts off so the battery gets depleted overnight if I leave it in the car. Then it starts playing every song from the beginning in alphabetical order.

Since my iPod is old and has a tired battery, it does this a lot.

Would not be so bad except I'm a first grade teacher and one of the songs in my iPod was the ABC song.

So my Rogue started most of the time playing the ABC song. Lucky me.

Finally, I had to go into my iPod playlist and change the name of some of the songs so they didn't come up first in the playlist.
