i have been searching around, i dunno if im not searching for the right thing, but i cant find what i want. i think this is the thing i would need. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-v...PK750

what im looking for is the little compartment that would go under the aftermarket radio. i already know what adapters i need, but little box thingie, is what im having problems. or could someone suggest something better than that, maybe better price?? lol. also, on crutchfield, they got two diff types of adapters, one is from scorche(sp?), and the other one just says nissan adapter. is there any difference between the two, other than that little box on the scorche one, and what does that box do.

btw, i have a '95 J30.

That's the one by American International. The J30's radio cutout is just a smidge smaller than most cars', and it fits the DIN radio face very closely. The kits are made with some overlap so they cover whatever of the edge is left over after a radio install. I used this filler under a half-DIN radio, but mounted it flush with the radio chassis so that the cover bezel came out even with the surface of the wood, and the bezel had to be shaved about 1/16 or so to fit into the wood. You might want to cruise the junkyards and see what else is out there- some have a door over the hole which is kind of nice. The AI box is larger than the one that Scosche provides in their kits (none apparently available for Infiniti), which is necked-down so that it holds a stack of 3 CD jewel cases. And though it's a lot for a plastic box, $14 is about half of dealer cost for a DIN cubby. Check your local installer shops, they will likely have boxes on the shelf.

im pretty sure i know this answer, but i just wanna double check and run this by someone for a final answer.

is there any difference between thishttp://www.crutchfield.com/S-X...4NN03

and this??http://www.crutchfield.com/S-X...cc=01also, will the second one be fine, with no problem. ive read that when you just swap out the stereo, the sound can get distored. would i need to get the Scosche adapter to elimiate the risk of having this problem?? all im doin is swapping out the head unit.

You need the Scosche amp adapter to adjust the output from a real stereo down to levels the Bose speaker amps can deal with. The harness adapter is already put on the one that Crutchfield sells, if you're terribly challenged by crimp connectors. And yes, soldering is the "better" method, but people who tell you that don't ever seem to mention that every connector in a car's wiring harness is put on by crimping instead of soldering. Instead of giving Crutchfield their $40 for the assembly, I got the amp adapter from Buy.com for $14, and the harness adapter off eBay for $6, and did my own crimping.

now, my step-father is telling me that i dont need the one with the little box thingie. all i would have to do is keep the volume on the radio down. also, with that adapter thingie, is that just 4 Potentiometer hooked up to the speaker's wires?? if so, i can create my own. i love using potentiometers on stuff. :D

aight, doin more research, heres my results. http://www.scosche.com/scosche...=OEA4this is what i need, along with the wire harness.

apparantly, i havent been able to find this anywhere. The scosche site is the only place that i see it. their msrp on it is 25 bux. but... they dont sell out of the site, they only sell to stores, theres a few stores near me. but im too lazy to actually drive somewhere for this, thats what the internet is for. if anyone has a spare OEA-4 adapter they wanna sell. PM me, and lemme know.

Apparently, that won't do the trick.Quote » also, with that adapter thingie, is that just 4 Potentiometer hooked up to the speaker's wires?? if so, i can create my own. i love using potentiometers on stuff. :D[/quote]From what I saw in there, they're R/C circuits.
