Just ordered a JVC KW-HDR81BT head unit to replace the stock stereo. The instructions indicate that the factory harness does not include a ground connection, and that the wire from the stereo's harness will need to be connected to the cars ground in some way. Has anyone found a good place behind the stereo to do this? Any convenient bolts within reach? Should I run a wire somewhere else in the front of the car to get a solid ground? Fuse block? Just trying to get the right supplies together before I tear that dash apart. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

i have not replaced the headunit, but i imagine its like anything else.

go to radio shack and grab one (if you can) if not, just buy the little package of them

crimp the ground wire into the red section, and take the head-unit mounting screw and put it through the hole, and install your head unit. that grounds it.

Thanks. I've got all the wiring connectors and such. That was going to be my plan, but I was just wondering if someone had done it, and found a screw in the back to be easeier to get to, or whether running a ground wire out to the front mounting screws interfered with the dash kit.

just make sure the screw hole is actually metal and grounded. some are just imbedded into the rubber dashboard. or just pic any metal bolt behind the radio in reach

There's a lot of plastic in the back. Make sure you ground to a metal bar. There's only one within reach of the wiring harness.

Top right screw that used to hold original radio (total of 4) is the original ground. I didn't get that connector but simply putted a wire around the screw and reinstalled it back to the spot.
