I have a 2004 Nissan Quest and I am looking for any info regarding my stereo. Several months ago, my stereo would make a loud pop sound (I thought a rock hit my windshield) then my stereo went out. No volume. I turned off the car then started again and it worked. This went on for months, recently it became more frequently. Yesterday, it finally is gone. No volume control. I see a display but no volume. I can't even use the cd/dvd player. The dealership said they think it is the speakers but want to take the car apart to make sure. I think there may be an alternative. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thank you.

There is a TSB (NTB04-078) on the 2004 Quest radio. I have the same issue. It calls for a new radio head unit.

I contacted Crutchfield about replacement units and they don't have an option for the 2004 Quest. I may go with a re-manufactured unit.

I have the same issue with my 2009, can't find an actual audio unit (radio), all I seem to be able to find is the in dash control module. Bummer!

While this won't make you feel any better, I have determined these stereos (04-06) are quite possibly the worst radio ever installed in a car. Ever. I mean ever.

I love the car, but wow are these radios junk. The one I had just sent out for repair a couple of months back has already failed (multi-disk changer on an 04 SE). I use the DVD player now. This makes at least 5 failures on this car - that I know of - on four different radios. They got too cute on the design and botched it.

Time to take it out again and send it in..

I think these radios are possessed. My first attempt to reset it (pulling the battery cable) failed. My second attempt a week later worked. Strange radio - when it was not operating:

1. Whenever I hit the eject button or tried to use the CD, it gave me the common two or three "beep" error, and wouldn't work OR eject the CD (normal failure scenarios that everyone sees all the time) and...
2. My AUX connection I wired into the radio to use off my phone (sat radio button) also didn't work. I could juuuuust hear the sound, but it was very faint - unusable.

However, now that the reset worked, everything works again: CD AND aux input are fine. Crazy radio. I gave up on the CD player - I just play CD's in the DVD player under the seat, but I mainly use my phone into the aux jack I installed. That always works. :werd:
