Alright, if I opt to go aftermarket head unit, where do I get a mounting kit for a single din cd player? Crutchfield does not offer one, nor does my local stereo shop. What have you all done in this situation? Also, better to aftermaket speaker/wire, or run a cd player with preamp to the existing Bose amp/speakers. I know these amps/speakers are getting old and probably about to die, so maybe not such a good idea. Also to switch the amps on, I know it take a special connection that may be more of a headache to get working properly. Any help would be appreciated, especially on where to get a mounting kit :)

Rob, a friend of mine, in B'ham replaced his J30 radio, with an aftermarket unit. I think "Sound's Great" in Hoover did it for him. Give them a try.

Well, I went to circuit city and they have a kit. Soundsgreat said they could custom make one. So that is solved. Thanks for sending me in the right direction.

You actually do not need a mounting kit for an aftermarket radio. the holes in the factory mounts will match up with the sides of aftermarktet radios.

just let circuit city do it for the extra 50 bucks unless someone here can tell you how to do it step by step. you dont want to mess anything up with the stupid bose amps and all that stuff. If you have the money replace the speakers to....itll sound 1000x better.
