Stereo lights stay on with key out???

My wife bought a 08 SL but we found out after it had been in a wreck. The problem is when you turn off the car after 5 seconds the stereo light comes on with the clock with the key in or out of the ignition?? Of course this is killing the batt everyday so it is a pain in the a**.

Every 10 secs or so it flashes like it is somehow tied to the security system. Is there a chance that it was just not re installed properly?? Any thoughts would be great. Thanks

Something is definitely not right. Did they change any of the harnesses after the accident? I had that happen on my truck years ago after an accident. The bodyshop put in a different model year harness which was wired differently.

the problem is I have no idea what was done...should I just have someone take the stereo out and re-install it to make sure its done right I wonder??

As much as I hate to type YES, it wouldn't hurt to take the radio out and double check the wires act correctly. You could just check the switched wire, always +12V and th ground. Those are the ones that seem suspect by your description.

binned the stock deck and bought a clarion dvd unit and everything works now including the bypass. Just need to figure out how the antenna connection works?? Bought the harness but it still sucks.

I think we shop at the same store.... my girlfriend bought a 2008 last year and we also found out after the fact it was a rebuilt and have the same radio issue.

Has anyone else see something similar? Is it definitly the radio or can a short in the harness cause the lights to come on the radio 5 sec after the key is out?
