just use the harness that came with the cd player and hardwire it. Im guessing the colors shoulds match each other.

Unless you're using some other factory Nissan CD player, the colors won't match.

Just look at what colors are coming from the speakers, and match it up with whatever wire it is coming out of the head unit. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out power, ground, and remote either, if you have a multimeter.

or u could just take it to a audio install place. my civics harness was cut and they did it for a like 10 less than if i would have had to by a harness since there was no parts cost. Also i never thought about it until now but maybe u could cut part of the harness outta a junkyard car.

you have to find a wiring diagram for the radio circuit of the car. i install this stuff all day at work, so i can give you the aftermarket harness colors:

red - 12v ignitionyellow - 12v constantblack - groundblue - remote turn on leadblue w/ stripe - power antenna if applicableorange - dimmer (we dont use it at work)orange w/ stripe - illumintation (also not used)white - front left +white w/ stripe - front left -gray - front right +gray w/ stripe - front right -green - rear left +green w/ stripe - rear left -purple - rear right +purple w/ stripe - rear right -

hope this helps

Hey I got the same problem when I did the dash kit upgrade with an aftermarket deck... The dimmer no longer works in my ride. Fortunately the brightness is all the way up so it's as if there is no dimmer. You think Infiniti made the system work where the factory radio completes a series wiring with some dimmer wires? Maybe we need to complete the circuit somewhere to make the dimmer work again... any ideas? Anyone out there who did an aftermarket upgrade and is still able to use their dimmer switch for the interior lights? help!

Looks like you guys could use some help here. It's been a few years since I ran into this sort of a problem, but I found that http://www.installdr.com came in very handy. They have wiring diagrams for lots of imports, including Nissan, Honda, Toyota, and Mitsubishi.

That site is less advanced and is more for basic install help.

Perhaps our particular problem is directly related to the series wiring of the factory headunit with the dimmer wire. Does anyone notice that the aftermarket headunit upgrade in your car has caused the dimmer to not work?

Meanwhile I will do some continuity tests to find if any unused wires behind my new deck link to the dimmer. I don't believe that there is, because my lights are constantly on full-bright, regardless of any dimmer control position. I'm curious if the dimmer leads are getting constant 12v+ because of the install? It doesn't make too much sense ... the constant 12v lead in the power harness for the radio is being used as well as the accessory and the ground - that's it. The dimmer lead was left alone (this particular deck I'm using doesn't implement a dimmer lead/function)!

next time you install a deck into a 240sx, dont hook up the dimmer wires.
