Hey guys,
I am fairly new to the whole Forum, mostly because I am not tech savvy, but I soon became interested upon realizing that electrical problems are not my strength.

Soon after installing a UD my car experienced some deep electrical problems. I will say that my battery is on its way out, as a matter of fact I took it to get charged and I was told that it only charged to 10 volts. So I have major stereo problems now, I depress the brake and at normal operating temp, say at a light, the stereo starts to crackle. I also notice that the headlights dimm and the dumb brake light appears on my gages. It is frustrating since I can't cruise in my car with my music blasting because at low RPM's the stereo crackles like an old hand radio, please help.

Thanks

I'm going to assume you are talking about an Under Drive crank pulley. One thing worth mentioning is that you should purchase an over drive water pump pulley, so the water pump spins at the correct rpm. Eliminating any cooling issues you may run into with solely the under drive pulley.

If you know that the battery is not holding a charge, then you should replace it first. Also get a shop to check the output of your alternator to make sure it is supplying enough amps.

Always replace the part you know is bad, before trying to chase around something else.

The stereo crackling sounds like the stock amps on their way out to me. You can either replace them all or bypass them all. Mine was in terrible shape as far as audio goes when I got ahold of it (only one speaker worked, and there was a constant whine from PF speaker that increased pitch with engine rpm). I did the amp bypass and everything magically worked again. (after removing the "converter" box that was stuffed behind my aftermarket stereo. If you have the stock radio, now would be the time to upgrade)

Check belt tension on the alternator/water pump belt.

Replace battery
