My car is a 1995 240sx se. Recently I've had problems trying to start it up. It'll crank, but no go. What steps should I take towards diagnosing my problem? I got an obd II reader, but for some reason, its not working due to car not responding. I've checked the fuses and new battery. I've also got a new dstributor rotor.

Check fuel pump pressure, then spark [while cranking], check injector [listen for clacking/opening].

One more thing. Is it necessary to have the warning lamp lit on when there is car problems? Because the way I'm seeing these pages, you need a warning lamp otherwise the ecu wont display codes and the obd II reader wont work.
