You'd need a bigger turbo. I like my GT25R .86 a/r.. Bigger injectors, fuel management, cams, head gasket... about call I can think of.

Since you have to take the head off to do the headgasket anyway, I'd say upgrade valve springs and go with some HKS Stage 2 272 cams.

You can have an external wastegate welded to the stock manifold, so that can save you some money too.

Nismo 740s, Nismo fuel pressure regulator.

For engine management, I'd just have the car romtuned, its much cheaper and easier than a stand alone.

I'm sure it can be done for $4000 US, so whatever that is canadian.

272's will not benefit him any with a stock valvetrain... you will just have more lag in the powerband for maybe 5whp on the big end. The 260's are more than capable for his application.

There are substantial gains to be made by going with a better manifold design, this should not even be questioned.
BaliLover wrote:Nismo 740s, Nismo fuel pressure regulator.
The Nismo FPR is not suited for high amounts of volumetric flow. The Aeromotive unit is far superior to the modified stock unit that Nismo sells and supports more power than the engine is capable of producing in this millenia. The result is a cooler fuel return (as in cold) and more accurately controlled fuel pressure.

Easier does not mean better, but in this instance ROM tuning might be a good option but you will lack flexability if the ECU has issues with detonation or accurate tuning.

$506 - Tomei 260's$271 - Tomei Valve Springs$91 - Tomei RAS$292 - Tomei 1.4mm Headgasket$120 - ARP Headstuds$1300 - GT3071R .63 a/r w/ 60mm turbine$531 - Nismo 740's $200 - Aeromotive FPR Setup$950 - Boost Logic SS321 Exhaust Manifold$200 - Tial 38mm W/G$500 - Enthalpy ROM Tune$200 - Z32 MAF Setup / Intake Piping$100 - Misc. Intercooler Pipe Welding / Fitting of Tial Flange on Manifold$100 - Misc. Parts / Fittings / Hoses$150 - Coolant / Oil Lines for Turbo$100 - Downpipe Modification$400 - Clutch

I'm looking at about $6000 USD before you sell off some of your stock parts. I'd figure on about $600 USD coming back in from your used parts, better to aim low.

If you wanted a cheaper setup you could go with:

$430 - HKS 264 Step 2 $190 - Comp Cam Springs$91 - Tomei RAS$292 - Cometic Headgasket$120 - ARP Headstuds$1300 - GT3071R .63 a/r w/ 60mm turbine$430 - MSD 72# Injectors w/ Custom Top Feed Rail & Connectors$200 - Aeromotive FPR Setup$950 - Boost Logic SS321 Exhaust Manifold$200 - Tial 38mm W/G$500 - Enthalpy ROM Tune$200 - Z32 MAF Setup / Intake Piping$100 - Misc. Intercooler Pipe Welding / Fitting of Tial Flange on Manifold$100 - Misc. Parts / Fittings / Hoses$150 - Coolant / Oil Lines for Turbo$100 - Downpipe Modification$400 - Clutch

Doing that will save you about $250 USD

So even on the cheaper setup you should be looking at a net cost of about $6300 CAD.

That is exactly why I said to stay with a stock exhaust manifold, you save yourself almost $1000 right there, and if you talk to Enthalpy you'll find that hes done quite a few 400hp tunes with the stock exhaust manifold.

If you go with the nismo FPR, it will handle the desired HP and save another $75 there and if you go with the Nismo or Tomei 740cc injectors, you can stay with the stock fuel rail and the bolt on Nimso FPR.

You can get the Enjuku head swap kit that comes with ARP headstuds, 1.18mm metal headgasket, exhaust manifold gasket, and valve cover gasket for $269.99, saving almost another $150.

The GT3071R-wg is a stock replacement for the T25 and is shown to be capable of more 400hp by ATPTurbo.com 's dyno figures so you don't NEED any oil/coolant lines or downpipe mods, so that saves $250

Your setup would be ideal, but its not totally necessary for his hp goals. he could save quite a bit doing it the way I suggested and be able to put that extra money towards a good LSD and some suspension and brakes.

My idea of necessary is simply different from yours, it is my experience/opinion that the only way to do something is the best way possible within your means. If it means that I have to wait 3 more months to get the "ideal" setup then I will, and I will be faster, more reliable, and simplified as a result. To me... I would rather run an ideal 350rwhp than a rigged 400rwhp. Others, such as yourself, don't follow my opinion, but to each their own.

Unless you are wanting to drift the 1.5-way is better suited for the 240SX.
Nicksemianiw wrote:Bronze 5zigen FN01R-C 17x9 +15 17x10 +12 w tires 1000 american
+12 in the rear will stick out alot.

You should cut your budget to buy good tires, it is the single greatest limiting factor of the whole car. It does you no good to buy brakes, suspension, or get 400 HP without having the means to put down all of those inputs.
Nicksemianiw wrote:Greddy Aluminum Hotpipe Nissan S13 SR20DET. 99.99
Go with the Enjuku pipe... it is a larger diameter and better suited for the larger turbocharger.
Nicksemianiw wrote:Greddy Aluminum Lightweight Pulley Set for Nissan 240SX SR20DET S13 239.99
That is a bit of a waste honestly, I would just go with the UR underdrive pulley. It will underdrive the water pump, and it will give you better gains than all of those pulleys combined.
Nicksemianiw wrote:HKS 75mm Downpipe for Nissan 240sx w/ SR20DET 169.99
You can get a KTS downpipe from http://www.splparts.com for less with a flex section welded into it to prevent manifold cracking. It is a very nice piece.
Nicksemianiw wrote:Flex-a-Lite Dual 12in. Electric Fan Kit Nissan 240sx 89-98 w/SR20DET 239.99
Go with the FAL 15" Single Fan, it is superior in flow both in rated CFM, and high speed radiator flow (twins have shroud that restricts the airflow through the radiator at speed, it's slim for fitment on FWD turbo cars like Hondas / DSMs). It also pulls less amperage and is cheaper.
Nicksemianiw wrote:A'PEXi Super AFC II 339.99
I'd spend the extra for the Greddy Emanage, it's a superior tuning tool.
Nicksemianiw wrote:300zx TT MAFS upgrade 350 american
I would just buy a used MAF, should save you an easy $250.
Nicksemianiw wrote:Tomei 555cc Side Feed, High Impedance, Fuel Injectors for Nissan 240sx, SR20DET, 91-98 499.99
Don't waste your time with 555's if you want 400rwhp. You would see much better duty cycles from the 740's, and you would benefit from a safety cushion if you decided later to upgrade further.

Yes, they are always beneficial, especially on a motor that is very picky about it's valve timing like the SR.

THanks for the reply.

What would you recommend? Im pretty much getting most of the stuff that you listed(1st list)but a different turbo.

What do you think of the GT25R turbo?

Im not understanding only one thing. Why go with an expensive turbo like a GT series? There are many other turbos that are much cheaper that can produce in excess of 400 hp without breaking a sweat. For example, a cheap t3/t04e 50 trim would be perfect and onyl spool *slightly* slower than the gt3071 turbo. With a .62 a/r and a stage 3 wheel, that turbo would make full boost at just over 3k and hold steady all the way to redline. A gt turbo is like 1200 bucks--a t3/t04e is about 500 bucks. Its not the newest coolest jdm-tytest thing out, but even JDM fanboi's can see that bang for your buck, the gt3071 is not the way to go. Hell, he has a HKS turbo now and someone said hed only have about 600 bucks coming back in from used parts he could seel to recoupe money. No way, that turbo, I could sell it for 600 bucks alone and someone would payt hat much for it too--gar-aun-teed.AS for the other mods, they are a great idea, but there a few things that arent necessary either. If you use a managment system, the e-manage is a waste. Ive never seen more than a handful of folks have good usage out of it.ABout the manifold, the SSA ones can be had for cheap. I know they have had a history of cracking, but not all of them do, and hey--for 179, id take my chances. and the only other thing id save money on was the h/g. If you arent going to go with a thicker one, then why do it at all. Id rather have the "fuseable" one there instead of one that would hold together and cause my bottom end to go...but thats just me.I can understand quality versus a "rush" job. But, thats all in the eye of the beholder. Ive seen quite a few cars that didnt use brand name stuff and didnt use high dollar parts, and still make great power, and are just as clean as can be.5k will do alot, but its not going to get you 400hp in my opinion without taking some shortcuts.

GT series turbos pack about an average of 7-8% efficiency into the wheels. They have no spool up difference as I've said in the past, the reasoning behind the GT series is it's efficiency, as well as it's benefit in transient response.

I view the turbocharger as the single most important item on the entire list of engine parts. It dictates the power you make, the power curve, as well as the rest of the entire setup.

A properly built exhaust manifold can yeild excellent gains in response, as well as provide adequate exhaust gas transit which is pure engine efficiency.

I am not saying what I listed is verbatim of god's word, I am just stating what I would suggest, and run if I were him.

If you are getting Tomei cams then get the Tomei gears as well, they sell them as a package and you'll save a good amount of money vs. buying them individually.

I need to know what version of the GT25R you are planning on running.
