Alright guys, my clutch pedal has always been really soft like a "wet noodle" ever since I did my 5 speed swap. We did my swap at the same time as one of my friends. The only thing different between the auto -> manual swaps was where we got the flywheels resurfaced.

1. The flywheel I used was resurfaced totally flat. My cars clutch pedal is very soft even after major bleeding and a new slave/master.

2. The flywheel My friend used was resurfaced in a stepped pattern. His clutch pedal feels stock.

3. Another of my friends did a clutch swap and when he resurfaced his flywheel, they did not step it. He used an ACT clutch, but it is still softer than stock.

4. Today I was helping another friend with a clutch swap, and the machine shop said the KA flywheel is stepped (and then procedded to step it).

According to one of my friends who worked at nissan, and is my nissan go to guy, the KA flywheel should not be stepped when resurfaced?

So what gives? and can the flywheel being stepped or not stepped have anything to do with a soft clutch?

stepping doesnt have really anything to do with pedal feel. u can check your clutch master cylinder and adjust the clutch pedal for play and see if its bad. you can also remove your clutch damper system and feed the clutch hardline directly to the slave cylinder.
