Hi,
I have an '08 Legacy GT that I'm going to replace with a G37X.
One of the greatest joys of the Legacy, is that in snow you can switch off the traction nanny and have a blast throwing it through corners tail out, steering with the gas.
It has a full time AWD system with a 60/40 rear/front torque split, so it essentially handles like a RWD, but with the AWD traction.
I was reading that the X has a part time system with a 50/50 split, so can you get the tail out and steer with the gas in the same manor, or does it just plow?

Paul

the G37x/G35x has a dynamic 0/100 to 50/50 front/rear split :yesnod so yes you can get into a drift as it's a normally RWD car until slip is detected. (one of the unique things about the G's AWD system) I've read that just pulling the relay/fuse to the electronic transfer case makes the G37x fail-safe to RWD operation.

With "VDC on" your drift is quickly corrected, but with "VDC off" car will drift under throttle especially in wet/slipper weather. then use snow mode, which holds the torque split 50/50 until about 20mph and now you got some AWD burnouts :naughty: in the snow. fun times!

Note: Drifts are short lived though as the AWD system, even with "VDC off", does a good job of pulling out of the drift with the front wheels.
