Steering wheel wear

I noticed today that the coloring on my I30's steering wheel seems to have rubbed off along the outer part of the wheel on some parts of the wheel. Is this normal wear or is something weird going on?

Can you post a photo or two of your wheel showing where the trouble spots are?

It's on the outside near the cruise control between the spokes of the wheel. It looks like the previous owner may have held the steering wheel there and rubbed it off over time. It's not a spot anyone would really notice, but it is annoying. From what I've read on other sites it seems to happen to a lot of cars.
