i've had this problem for about a month now, please help so i can start driving on the freeway again..

when i was driving on the freeway my steering wheel would shake violently right when it hit 65 mph and would keep on shaking until 75 mph then it would stop. If i floored it and got to like 85 mph i wouldnt feel anything until it would decelerrate to 75 mph and it would start shaking violently again. so these are the things i did to try to solve the problem:

1) Changed my inner and outer tie rods (stock ones were shot)

2) Got an alignment

3) Balanced my wheels (did it myself and they zero'd out perfectly)

4) Check the wheel hubs to see if there was any play and there was none

5) Tein tension rods

6) Made sure the bolt holding the steering wheel hub is tight and it is.(FYI i have a boss hub, NRG slim quick release, and nardi wheel...if this has to do with anything)

what else could it be? I was thinking something with the steering rack, but im not sure. I wanna get your guys input before i take my car to the shop tomorrow. Help would be greatly appreciated.

dont know if this is relevent but there are diffent places to weight the wheels depending on style when being balanced. also maybe the rack bushings. Im in the same boat with mine.

I bought it from a guy who had it two weeks and got it from him. slap your friend. amazingly straight cosmetically and interior wise just not so much on his geniousness of lowering it to the ground. I raised it almost three inches but that is to late for the oil pan. and he needs to figure out how to install the coils

have you tried checking your spindles? that was what made my steering wheel shake. when i took it in for an alignment, the mech told me i had to replace my spindle before he could do any full alignment otherwise he'll have to counteract the front wheel's bad alignment by aligning the rear wheels the opposite camber. kinda rough but it was done and i was happy to drive on the freeway again.

well when he installed them they were max out so far the lock collars he just said **** em and but them on the other side as they came out the bottom so he could get that extra 3/8 inch lower. he bent the sway bar and oil pan. he had the camber maxed out in the rear for no reason. all wheel bearings where bad. and the exhaust manifold was held on by 3 nuts. but he did throw in a z32 bmc. by the way do you know why there is so many swirls on the cars paint?

sounds like he raped the cars base suspension parts. you might wanna consider replacing the whole assmbly with the rotor and hub on it. (i forget what its called) and the reason why there's so many swirls on your paint is due to years of handwashing it in the swirling/buffing motion with ****ty-material cloths so the swirls HELLA show up in the clear coat.

no if you say these swirls you would see why I ask. its not actually swirls, its almost like he tried to make it look brushed aluminum. supension is now perfect

post some pics some time then. all in all did any of the responses help narrow down what the vibration could possibly be?
